Publisher's Summary

Kazimir, the head of the Bratva, has come to New York to find the person who murdered his loyal washer. Nicknamed The Russian Lion because he's credited with over 200 kills, the death of his washer is enough to start a dark and deadly war. Unfortunately, Emily falls on Kazimir's radar. Her brother is suspected of being involved in the murder, and she's determined to do everything she can to save him.

Kazimir forces her to launder his money and finds that she's the perfect fit for the job. Known as a con to most and a hustler to many, she's the best washer in Harlem, and she keeps all of the low-key gangsters on their toes. At first, Kazimir and Emily have a tricky arrangement based on fear and danger. Working for Kazimir is like balancing on a tightrope. He's a monster wrapped in a gorgeous package, and his air of sensuality almost makes her forget just how dangerous the man is.

Sexual tension heats up between the two, but one violent night changes everything. Kazimir and Emily must somehow learn to trust each other before they end up dead. But when hidden secrets arise regarding the death of Kazimir's washer, his money won't be the only thing that's dirty. And, unfortunately, their rising attraction may not survive.

The 🐀 and the 🦁

Great story!! This is my first book by Ms. Wright. However, I can't wait to read or listen to everything she has on Audible or Kindle. The narrorator's did an amazing job! That male narrator was superb and really kept me entertained. He could read me the periodic table and I would pay rapt attention. I'm so glad that I finally took the leap and bought this book. it was well worth the credit. On to book 2 now.

Very good story and SUPERB narration!!

This book and the second book in the series are just outstanding. I love story lines that are different and this one for sure hit that mark. The male narrator, Max, had me cracking up !! The Russian narrator deserves a standing ovation, and the female is always good. If you listen to this one you will chase after part 2. You will not be disappointed.

Win for Kenya Wright!!<br />

I loved Dirty Kisses. Ms. Wright had a great plot, great character development and kept you guessing and aroused. However, listening to the story being narrated by the two main characters was INCREDIBLE!!! Excellent choices and job well done concerning the voice actors. I loved the Male actors Russian accent.

Lion and Mouse 🐁

This book was so damn good. I had fallen in love 💘 with Kasmir. Filthy Rich, sexy, arrogant, and powerful. I would love a man like that. I bought book two, and I can't wait to start. I truly recommend this book. I have never wanted to date a Russian guy, but let me find a Kasmir. I really hope Emily has a better life. She deserves it. Love this book.😊

Unfinished!

This was a pretty good story until I realized it must be a part one. There was too much left unfinished for this to be complete.

Good Story. Good Male Narrator. Poor Female Narrator.

First off, I HATE having to put down another black woman and far be it from me to impede their paper chase, but Shari Peele was not a good narrator for this story. I give 4 stars for Ellis Evans part and 2 stars for SP’s contribution.
Is it just me, or does she sound an awful lot like Karen Chilton??? The sole reader for pretty much all of Alyssa Cole’s books.
Both have a waaaayyy too mature sounding voice for the female characters they portray. I mean a 21yo?? Maybe if she started smoking at 6... A 41yo I could definitely believe-maybe 31-but 21.. 🤔 Where is Clementine Dove when you need her??? 👀 She would be an age-appropriate sounding reader for Emily.
And then there’re those awful (and I do mean horrendous) accents. Neither Shari Peele nor Karen Chilton should be reading the dialogue for the foreign male characters in these stories. They just don’t have the range. Period. And it totally takes away from the authors’ works.
Both narrators make me cringe when they try to read anything European (Russian, Scottish, Swedish). KC’s “Thesoloan” accent from AC’s Reluctant Royals series is the only decent foreign accent I’ve heard between the two. Seriously, are these just different pseudonyms for the same narrator??

As for the story, DK was interesting and not easily predictable. The twists and suspense certainly kept my attention. This was my first ever Kenya Wright novel, and I found it under the Audible Escapes package. I was immediately drawn into and submerged in the story as the male reader narrated. Whenever the POV switched to SP, I was yanked back out due to previously mentioned issues.
If you’re going to have multiple characters with different cultural backgrounds, then PLEASE have multiple readers able to successfully portray those backgrounds. I said this before, but more authors/producers or whoever the decision-makers are should have the male reader narrate ALL the male dialogue, including during the female POV and vice versa. Cherish Sinclair’s Masters of the Shadowland series is recorded similarly in the later books, and it makes for a far smoother listen. I think it would greatly help this audiobook. ESPECIALLY when you have a subpar range like Shari Peele (aka Karen Chilton?) when it comes to accents. No offense ladies. Just MHO.
The female dialogue is done decently, if a bit oldish sounding for the MC but not bad. EE also does a pretty good job. He gives the different men their own sound. Not just the accented characters either. I could tell when Max was speaking vs when it was X. Wouldn’t have minded if he narrated the full story.

I’ll continue on to part 2 and hope the female narration improves.

I was just browsing and stumbled upon a Gem!

This novel is the first I've had the pleasure of reading written by Ms. Wright. Not only is the story intriguing the narration is a beautiful addition. Ms. Wright's writing is incredibly descriptive. Her scenes are so vivid you feel as if you are viewing these moments first hand.

Ms. wright's characters are rich and descriptive. From Kazimir to Emily, all her characters are developed right before your eyes. You feel what they feel. Just wonderful.

I can't wait for book two.

Completely amazing, the performances was so good the guy changed his voice so it honestly sounds like there was multiple narrations and you could tell who was who and the lion ...his character was by far my favorite, this series is definitely in my top 10 I can’t wait to see if there will be any more books with the same character

How impressed was I with this story?

This was a very refreshing story, good characters and a real mystery going on in this Lion and the Mouse series. Two worlds that don't usually interact, end up interacting pretty well together and in a very sexy way. Kudos to the narrators too, good job. The story did indeed stop abruptly, but I'm sure we were all willing to wait for the next part. So to the Author Kenya Wright, thanks for bringing part 2 Dirty Love out in a timely manor. I look forward to listening to that one too.
