Publisher's Summary

It's the beginning of summer break, and high school English teacher Shannon Parker is ready to relax poolside with some red wine and a good book. She's friggin' earned it! But first - a little shopping, à la fancy estate auction.

Surrounded by old folks and even older artifacts, Shannon never expects to find something that shocks her down to her very core: an ancient vase, complete with a beautiful painting of a goddess that looks just like her. And just as she's stealing away with her seriously suspicious purchase, she's magically thrown into the world of Partholon, where not only has she taken the place of Rhiannon, Goddess Incarnate and Epona's Chosen, but she's due to be married to a surly (but oh-so-handsome) High Shaman centaur, ClanFintan.

But serving as Epona's Chosen isn't just luxury baths and buff horse-guys. A dark power grows in the wastelands to the north, and Rhiannon will need much more than just the favor of Epona to protect the land - and the man - she's grown to love.

Another gem for my collection!

At times, this tale had me cackling. At others, it had me in tears. I enjoyed every minute of it! Phenomenal story. Excellent vocal performance. Action. Romance. Magic. Humor. This story has it all and kept me engaged from the very beginning! I highly recommend this tale, as well as the rest of PC Cast's work!

Excruciating

I purchased this book because of the reader and a promising story line. However, it barely kept my attention. The heroine was whiney and hard to like and the description of everything was so overdone.
It could have been a third as long and been twice as good.

Skip if rape is a trigger

I really enjoy a good quirky character and this hit the mark. Shannon was funny and well educated while knowing her faults.
Lorelei King is also one of my favorite readers, making this fantastic... until you get to the multiple rape scenes and demon birth scene. A quirky funny book is not the place for multiple scenes violating women and girls in bloody prose.

3.5 Stars. It Got Better

While bringing up another memory or remark to describe or add to a situation is something we all do, Shannon does it A LOT!
She makes a lot of snarky one liners, ad libs, and references male movie stars that quickly became too much. It was like she was trying too hard. I got the point 3 sentences ago. In the 1st act of the book, it was an end to every sentence. Overdone. It did slow down towards the middle and the end.

I read this through the Escape FKA Romance Package. They did not give it a "steam" meter, but it would fall in the sweet category. Like a Kristen Painter novel or a sitcom. My current mood wanted a teeny bit more in the romance bedding department along with a well thought out fantasy plot, but it was still sweet and the story was good enough.

The hero was gallant. I guess I'm just not that into Centaur men. The pain he had to go through for them to be together was a lot. And the 1 time he pleases her in his natural form while she bounced on his back just didn't do it for me. At. All. Sorry.

I'll hold off on reading book 2 for a while. 1st time reading this author. I guess reading something new while you're waiting for another book to be released is not the best if you're still going through book withdrawal lol.

Narrator was great. Love the command she has over her voice and the life she gave to the characters.

Just Divine

So there is always a strong possibility that if a book is this long it will be parts that are stretched out and boring. I am glad to say this is not the case. I couldn't stop listening. I was hooked from the beginning. Lorelei K as always was phenomenal bringing life to Shannon Parker a funny 35 year old who life changes when she sees an image of herself on a vase at an auction. It takes something Divine (Pun intended) happening for her to find her soulmate, her destiny and the life she was meant to live. I suggest you read or listen to this book ASAP.

I love PC Cast

I first began reading PS Cast and Kristan Cast’s House of Night series years ago. I haven’t found a book of hers that I didn’t love. She did not disappoint in this book. Her talent for creating new worlds is amazing. She always writes strong female heroines and I love Shannon in this book. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of this series.

Couldn't Even get Half Way Through

Ugh.... I am not against comedy in a romance book but the one liners got old real fast as there were sooooo many. The story was mired in such inane detail that I found my mind drifting and a few times I even fell asleep while trying to listen. Combine this with a TSTL character and I gave up on the book. Returning this one quickly, The narrator however, was excellent even given the poor material.
