Publisher's Summary

Residents of Santa Clarita, one of the nation's safest cities, are jolted when a decapitated woman is discovered in the car of a missing realtor.

When detectives home in on her wealthy husband, a mystery begins to unravel, and the investigation heats up.

Los Angeles Sheriff’s homicide detective Dickie Jones has returned to work after recovering from gunshot wounds. His wife has left him, and his partner, Matt “Pretty Boy Floyd” Tyler, has been assigned a new partner.

A serial killer is on the loose, which might be just the diversion Dickie needs. When he and Floyd are reunited to hunt down the murderer, all seems right in his world again - until the veteran detectives discover that Dickie is next on the killer’s list.

Door to a Dark Room is a gripping crime thriller with twists and turns. Written by a former homicide detective, this book will take you beyond the yellow tape into the hearts, souls, and tormented minds of those who hunt evil.

Top Notch Detective Tale!

Didn’t see the twists, turns coming in this police procedural! Most crime novels depict psychopath killers, hit men as intelligent, able to plot their crimes carefully. First time I met one in a novel who is bumbling, thoroughly nasty, impulsive, and whiny as a child. He can’t resist impulse to extra curricular thrill kill while on a hit mission, then drops his lighter at scene! How he gained the friendship of a legendary bad guy is beyond me. I really enjoyed the humor of this dumb crook trying to be a pro hitman! The detectives come across as real men doing a demanding job. Great story, hated to see it end. Recommend it highly.
