AN EXCELLENT BUILD TO A MOVING & TENDER LOVE STORY
Zander and Getty are two broken people who are forced to share the same house.. but, even though they each wanted to be left alone to heal and to purge the demons from their pasts, they slowly let the other in.. into their secrets, into their beds, into their lives.. and finally into their hearts.
Zander was a tortured soul.. damaged by his childhood and he's running from one tragic event that happened to him when he was 7 yrs old and Getty had run away from her controlling manipulative Father and an even worse ex. Somehow Zander, the gorgeous sexy Racecar Driver, had to tread carefully around Getty and Getty, the vulnerable yet determined Bartender, tried hard to fight the sexual attraction - attraction and feelings that she'd never felt before. Despite their rocky start.. they were there for one another, healed each other and found their HEA together.
This is a well paced emotion filled dual POV romance with sex, passion, heartache, humor, angst and drama along the way and it's got its share of touching, sweet and romantic scenes too. An awesome story and the great narration topped off this intense and addictive listen.
Worth a credit? K. Bromberg is a trusted Author for me and her books are always an auto download.. so YES creditworthy.

Blood, Band Aids, Scissors
Past: We meet Zander in book 1 of the Driven Series. As a child Zander was found next to his dead mother putting band aids on her trying to stop her bleeding. He was sent to the boys home ran by Riley. Zander liked race cars, so of course, Colton became his role model.
Present: Zander is now a professional race car driver working for Colton. Zander receives a box that contains items about his mother and it sends him into a downward spiral. He won't talk to anyone about what's bothering him. Colton tells Zander he's out-of-control and is fired from driving until he works out his issues. Zander makes a deal with his friend, Smitty, to stay at his cabin for a few months and complete renovations in exchange for anonymity.
Getty is running from an abusive past. Her husband was mentally abusive and cheated on her. She was able to divorce him without his signature and now wants to start a new life. A friend of Getty's, Darcey, told Getty she can stay in the cabin.
Getty comes home from work and undresses to get in the shower but much to her surprise there's a man in the shower. So the first time they meet their both naked in the bathroom. This is their story...
I really enjoyed this story and have already listened to it a few times. It was fun to catch up with Colton and Riley; and to find out how Zander's life turned out.
This book can be a stand alone but Driven is a really good trilogy you're missing out on.
K. Bromberg is a very talented writer. I adore her Driven Trilogy and Zander's story.
Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell gave an entertaining performance. They are two of my favorite performers.
Absolutely worth the credit/$$.

Way too much inner dialogue for me.
I really wanted to like this book. However after 9 hours I had to skip to the last chapter. I just. Couldn’t. Do. It. On the positive side, the characters were well developed. Also, Maxine Mitchell is a great narrator. She is my favorite female narrator for impersonating a man. But I wish she wouldn’t use such dramatic inflection when reading non dramatic material.

Takes The Checkered Flag!!!
Front the starting line without a doubt this tremendous tale will have you glue to every word! This book has every last emotion stitched in tight. You won't be able to stop listening!
Put the brakes on the rest of your life because until you have heard the whole book it will just be background noise!
I'm wish I had my own Sweet Z to race after!!!
A truly amazing modern day fairytale!

another great book in this series!
I really liked this very sweet love story. not a whole lot of drama but enough to add interest. too bad there aren't a whole lot of Coltons and Zanders out in the real world! I thought the narrators did a good job but I've listened to quite a few with Joe Arden, always good. Love K Bromberg. I'll be watching for more. I really appreciated the length of the book. A little more bang for my credit!

Fantastic! A must listen!
Zander, Zander, Zander.... became the man I hoped that little boy would grow up to be and more... Getty, such a brave and courageous woman, perfect in so many ways for Zander. What a story, filled with emotions, baggage and hope. Another checkered flag win for K. Bromberg. Highly recommend reading this! Just Jump in and start reading! Fantastic narration!!

Wow! A MUST to listen to!!
Socks.
So. Damn. Pretty.
Convince her she’s your water.
Beautifully broken and brilliantly told, Down Shift blew me away! Moving ... magical ... and oh so meaningful. This story ... it's EVERYTHING! It's heartbreak and healing. It's the shattering of the soul and the strength to soar. The emotion within and between Getty & Zander is so raw and real it will have you on the brink of tears, smiling, grinning, turning red, then ripping your insides out with a spoon...it’s gut-wrenching but flawless. Joe Arden & Maxine Mitchell are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality.
