Story
We live in a competition loving culture. We love the performance, the big win, the ticking seconds of the clock as the game comes down to the wire. We watch games and cheer, sometimes to the point of obsession, but if we really wanted to see greatness - wanted to cheer for it, see it happen, understand what made it happen - we’d spend our time watching, obsessing on, and maybe even cheering the practices instead.

Story
Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better, and look cooler, than $20 no-names... and believing it makes it true.

Good book, excellent effort!
I'd not known of Mr. Netmaker. Picked this up on a sale. Have listen to many personal development books, so have lots to compare to. The author does a mostly excellent job of weaving in his own experiences into several tried and true personal development ideas and as a result offers a fresh perspective on many ideas that have been kicked around for years. What makes this book worth listening to is to hear about the personal development tactics, mantras, ways of thinking from a First Nations man, who grew up on and off reserve. This is what makes the book interesting and unique and even powerful. It is wonderful to hear how Mr. Netmaker, who against the odds, continually took lemons and made lemonade with some help along the way. The listen is not without its challenges. While Mr. Netmaker does a solid job reading, the editing of the book lacks polish and towards the end of the book I found the narrative a bit disjointed and one important story about the author's sister, though inspiring, seemed misplaced (perhaps she could write her own book?!). I suspect these issues are due to this being the author's first book. These issues aside, it is a short and excellent listen that I would recommend. It's a solid first work and I'd like to see more content from Mr. Netmaker.

Inspiring
I enjoyed listening to Kendall's life path of perseverance and focus. Overcoming the isolation of life on the reserve and the oppression that came with being First Nations, he walked a path to success for himself. Really loved the tone of the narrative, the authors voice, and the details of his personal experiences. It is inspiring to hear how he overcame difficulties and stigma's and had the sense and conviction to make things work in his life.

LISTEN to this!
I am not the target market, being a caucasian retired female, but I grew up near a reserve and a residential school. I wanted to hear the story of hpw he dug himself out of the rut of self-pity and lòoking at the past. Thank you for a positive story and attitude! At first, I had trouble with the flat tones in the delivery. As the author told of stories improvinghislife, even setbacks, either his tone improved or myinterest did. Well done.
