Story
To a jockey, losing his license is the equivalent of being struck off, or disbarred, or cashiered. When steeplechase rider Kelly Hughes lost his license his first feelings were of bewilderment and disbelief, for he was not guilty of the charges. Nor, to the best of his knowledge, was the trainer he had ridden for, who lost his livelihood as well. When his first stunned state of shock subsided, Kelly began to wonder why he had been framed, who had done it, and how it had been achieved.

The house was stripped bare of all its treasures. Gone was the furniture, the family silver, the paintings and the antique china. A coincidental meeting with a middle-aged widow sends Charles off to Australia, on the trail of a gang with a fruitful business in forging works of art.

A Good Suspenseful Mystery....
I enjoyed this story... and Simon Prebble's narration. The story had enough mystery and suspense to hold my attention throughout. Prebble is the voice of Francis' novels, the voice that brings the story to life. Other Dick Francis novels that I like better are "Break In" and "Bolt"... as I well know, some stories are better than others. Recommend.....

Francis never disappoints!
Great narration for an excellent story. Where the modern trend is to fill the pages with graphic sex scenes, horrific violence, and the worst of crude
language, Dick Francis instead entertains with suspense and a rational storyline.
