Publisher's Summary
Katie Weber left her heart behind in Portland when she decided to follow her dreams in Hollywood. Now she's back to sing the national anthem for the Portland Storm for their annual Hockey Fights Cancer night. One look at the team's bench while she's singing is all it takes to know that Jamie Babcock is still hurting just as much as she is. She's done the Hollywood thing, though, and she's over it. She knows what she wants, and she wants Jamie, but she might have already done too much damage.
Jamie Babcock has done everything possible to let go of Katie, but she keeps coming back, and she keeps crushing him all over again every time she leaves. His heart has been trampled on more than enough already. At some point, he has to draw the line. Doesn't he? Only, when it's Katie, he's not sure that's even possible. She's back right now, but he can't be sure for how long.
Katie is willing to do everything she has to in order to convince Jamie she's back for good - even dropping her gloves - because in the game of love, all bets are off.

Great book, didn't like the narrator's voice...
The narrator's voice was really annoying. Besides that, this is a decent story. I've been waiting for Jaime and Katie's still for a while.

Great book!
This is my favorite book in the series so far. Once again, Angel Clark is a fantastic narrator who truly brings the story to life. I love how the plot lines all weave together and develop.

A Series Favorite!
I'm a huge fan of this hockey series, and I've been waiting for Jamie and Katie's story. What a rush when the author gave me so much more than I expected. The story blew me away and the narrator did an excellent job as always.

Satisfying resolution of a lingering question
This is a terrific listen for fans of the Portland Storm series, but you should have read at least some of the earlier books. Many of the central characters from earlier stories play a role in this story and thus their appearance here will be a bit of a spoiler if you go back to listen to those books later. Fortunately, if you haven't read the six previous stories, they are collected in two "omnibus" volumes with some novellas for total cost of only two credits. An awesome bargain.
Ms. Gayle some how avoids the usual problems that plague most series. She manages to to keep her writing clear, her characters engaging and the plot moving along briskly. The situations remain plausible and the conflicts are neither contrived nor insignificant. While her books are entertaining, she provokes us to think about difficult realities facing many of us or our loved ones.
If you enjoy sports romance that is also technically accurate and not just a vehicle for descriptions of copulation, I would confidently recommend this book as well worth spending a credit or as a cash purchase.
