Story
When the star system of Legatus was preparing to secede from the Protectorate of the Mage-King of Mars, it was the secret agents of the Legatan Military Intelligence Directorate that laid the groundwork and fought the covert war to make it happen. Now, as the open conflict draws to a bloody stalemate, LMID has been broken. Their leader is dead, murdered by agents of the Republic they helped birth. Their surviving agents have scattered, following a final protocol that orders them to defect to the Protectorate. An old friend brings all of this to Damien Montgomery.

Great book but it has some problems!
The only problem I have with this book is that it goes out of its way to push it's LGB relationships in the readers face. I have nothing against gays and I support them, I have a lot of gay friends and family but I don't appreciate any type of Relationship whether it be gay or straight being pushed in my face I just want to enjoy the story without all this political agenda bull crap! But overall it is a great story!

Not as good as the first book.
While this is still a good book, it is not as good as the first book in the series. The author starts to belabor the romance aspects of the story, to the point they become cheesy and forced. The narration is great throughout.

One of the best books I've listened
One of the best books I've listened to for quite a while, at least among the top ten I've ever listened to.
The author and the narrator have produced such an amazing piece that let's the mind drift into the story of the book, and let's the listener completely forget the world outside of the book.
I've listened to other books by the author and other narrations by the narrator, and I am a big fan of both, but together what they deliver is nothing short of a masterpiece.
The book provokes a full range of emotional responses, and was thrilling and captivating from beginning to end.

Excellent follow up!
I was hesitant to read about how the author was going to follow up after the end of the first book. I’m glad I took the plunge and continued the series.
The author did an excellent job of balancing the complex intricacies of building up the Taryn tech base as well as having the main character deal with an ongoing insurgency. The new secondary characters also helped add to the overall depth of the story.
Overall an excellent blend of military and civilian lifestyles coming together to make the tear and duchy a whole lot stronger. Also enjoyed the space combat! Can't wait to read the next one!
