Good, but not as great as previous ones

Another good Ranger's Apprentice story and was quite enjoyable. I'm not giving it a five because of a few small things: it was missing a bit of fun of the previous stories (following two groups being constantly sieged is a bit draining), it wasn't stand alone or a new adventure (part 2 which continued a cliff hanger), there was no Will or Halt, and had a limited scope of locales (really, just the castle and the hill fort). However, the inclusion of the Brotherband characters was a plus and Maddy continues to be a great character.

cant wait for more

rangers apprentice series is awesome. main characters, story line, the person reading the story, everything was perfect. cant wait till next book in the series comes out. I have read/listened to them all. including the brother band series. both series are imagination inspiring. I highly recommend both series to anyone with an imagination.

It's okay predictable

I guess I'm just seriously disappointed that the story itself is predictable. I mean Maddie a great character. But I miss Will Treaty.... He should be in his prime now, instead of the backstory of things. I kind of wish they'd graduate Maddie and get Will out of it all together. it seems like that's what they're author really wants to do is get rid of Will altogether. if Maddie had her own series without Will maybe the author would do some stories with him and the characters that help make the series really great instead he's just gone a different direction. Some of the original ranger apprentice stories were just really outstanding in their depth of plot and complex characters. Having said that the author can do what he wants it's his characters. just makes me sad ... there's some throwback prequel books and they're okay but it's not the same as Will's adventures. I doubt that I'll read anymore of these I probably will eventually reread some of the original ranger apprentice books.

Good. more predictable than I'd like.

It is a great story and the reader is excellent. Many books in the series are fantastic, however this one is a bit more predictable than I would have liked.

Another slam dunk

I love this series. I know some people were upset that this was split into two parts and whatever. But haters gonna hate. People always have something to say no matter what you do. I liked how we got to see more of the brotherband. To me it really reinforces the fact that both timelines are concurrent and it connects all the dots.
