Incredible character development

I read this book a long time ago as a child, and I loved (still do appreciated) it for the depth it explores Jess's character. She is a horse first and foremost, but through a strange turn of events, she is given the opportunity to explore life as a human and develop her own humanity. It is fascinating to see how a horses habits and ticks would change in a now human body. This exploration of her personality does make the beginning a bit slow, but it's well worth the read. It's a unique book that stands out from the crowd and you'll (at least I did) will remember for years and years.
