Publisher's Summary

A routine investigation into corruption at a North Californian airport sets in motion shocking events that lead hard man Jim Bishop and world-weary ex-cop boss Scott Weiss into the center of a massive criminal conspiracy.

The trail of blood that ensues brings them dangerously closer to Weiss's old nemesis, an expert gun-for-hire known only as Shadowman, and to a plan set to climax with an act of audacious violence and a murder that would be impossible for any killer but one....

Fantastic Read

I couldn't stop listening to this book. Andrew
Klavan is maybe the best story teller that I have
ever heard or read. You will want to listen to the
books in order: Dynamite Road then Shotgun Alley
then Damnation Street.

very impressed!

I knew nothing about this author, but took a chance based on the preview I listened to. I really enjoyed the characters, the suspense, and the fact that the characters all have their own faughts. I really enjoyed the author as narrator and I plan to listen to his follow up to this book next.

Good writing style, but very foul-mouthed

The author's reading is excellent, and the suspense and story is engrossing. However there *are* phrases that don't start with the 'F'-bomb that can be used for character dialog. I felt like I'd spent the day listening to skid-row bums trading insults with ex-convicts.

To help you survive the Klavanless week

Great book, definetly worth the listen. Klavan's narration may be your only hope at surviving the DW Klavanless week.

It's an interesting story and though it encompassed several perspectives it was easy to follow along which can sometimes be difficult in audiobooks. I'm looking forward to starting Shotgun Alley, the next in this series.

Awesome!!!

Love Klavan. Loved this story. Well told by the author himself. I almost couldn't put down the iPhone. But, unfortunately I had to when the 3 year was in the room (language). Otherwise, great story, and well told. Looking forward to other audio books from Klavan.

Gripping taut crime thriller

The master of action and suspense, Andrew Klavan has done it again. His plotting and prose is endlessly rewarding. His performance of narration and characters surpasses that of most professional actors. I cannot wait to listen to the next in the series. I also found his performance of his book Empire of Lies and Michael Knowles performing Klavan’s Another Kingdom books almost impossible to “put down.” Perfect for binge listening!

One sitting listening

Well worth the listen. Plot twists, not so much, plot amazing executed. Enjoy the detail. Dialogue like I am there. Able to know a minor character in a paragraph like a good friend. Best one so far.

Excellent

The story is great, the performance is better. I see people giving this book poor reviews because of fowl language and talk of sex. If those things bother you, the book is not for for you. But those things are reality, and how do you pull someone into.a story that doesn't resemble the world we live in? Klavan has a really good way of telling stories the way reality and the narrative requires them to be. Great book.

Awful

What would have made Dynamite Road better?

Dynamite Road would have been better if the small sliver of a plot had more to it.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am now listening to Predictably Irrational.

What does Andrew Klavan bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

I thought Klavan was a very good reader. He acted out the character's voices well and in a non-distracting way. He was among the best readers I've heard.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dynamite Road?

I think Dynamite Road had enough real meat to be a short story, which is a shame. The characters, though stereotypical, were fun. He created a huge build up to what was ultimately a wafer thin story.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy Klavan's political writing and enjoyed Empire of Lies.
