Great listen!

Grace Hamilton creates a full, colorful story. The strength of the characters, as well as the survivalist tips make for a great series. One gets very attached to characters, and saddened at their departure. Andrew Tell does a great job of narrating. I look forward to listening to other series by this author.

Tried to get thru book-Failed

The narrator was good. the story seemed like a good read, but after multiple times leaving and returning to listen, i finally could not stand the unrealistic stupidity of characters. I understand that the storyline would probably lead up to them learning a lesson or whatever. But it was painful, not worth reading or listening

Quickly became a favorite

This is one of those stories which I list in my head as brain candy. I tend to read a lot of non-fiction, and it is always nice to read fiction full of interesting tidbits from the non-fiction world. This is a prepper must read, or share as a gift.

Decent Story-but terrible main character

I wouldn’t give this series a bad review, it did hold my interest enough to finish it, but the main character Megan, was ridiculous. She was extremely arrogant and bossy, the “her way or the highway” & “no one is capable or smart except for me” attitude had me wishing something fatal would happen to her so that the rest of the series could focus on the other, much better characters. Megan’s character became more annoying with each book. I had another eye rolling moment when the nationality of the series protagonist was revealed. Very stereotypical. Groan….

I loved how the author attempted to include educational info about survival tactics & rebuilding after an apocalyptic event without it taking over the whole story. Lots of great little tips and things to think about. That part was well done!

Megan is not my choice of main character

Well written story for the most part. In a real scenario, Megan would have gotten told to stfu so many times. Loud mouthed, bad decisions. Narrator was very good.

painfully bad

I am normally fairly tolerant with my audio books as I use them for background 'noise'. However I couldn't make it halfway through, even with multiple attempts.
When I found myself wanting the main character to die I knew I had to pull the plug.
The production quality and narration was fine.

Really enjoyed this story

I really enjoyed this story, a good story without describing gruesome violent scenes or pornographic sex. Well written and I love the characters.

Not really recommended.

Poor writing combined with not very good narration makes this not worth the credit it cost me. I only made it to the first part of chapter 4 and had to stop. I'm really sorry I had to give this a bad review.

Don’t bother

This is probably one of the worst books I’ve listened to. The main plot is poor; Kyle murders someone months into the apocalypse (go figure) and a 7 year old girl is a witness. Kyle poisoned the girl so she doesn’t tell. Mom, Megan, finds a cabin in the woods looking for help to save her daughter. The cabin is inhabited by a former Navy Seal, Wyatt, and his family. Kyle weasels his way into the group to assassinate the 7 year old because she may snitch him out. To who?! Who are they going to call, the police? It’s the apocalypse! In the story Wyatt left a backpack that included a handgun in the woods for the Megan as a just in case. Megan needed the gun to save herself from Kyle, and she made it to the backpack only to find that Mr. Navy Seal left it unloaded… Then Kyle is pointing a gun at Megan and was about to kill her. Wyatt came running out of the woods and tackled Kyle instead of shooting him, like Seals are trained to do. I expected a better story than this. It was clearly written by someone with no military or tactical knowledge, and the author apparently didn’t bother doing any research. Or, Wyatt is the most inept Navy Seal ever trained? I couldn’t listen anymore.

Beyond expectations...

For no reason in particular, I did not have high expectations for the series. I, however, was very quickly drawn into the story. The storyline progressed quite well and the characters were very easy to become acquainted with. Good action, both ups and downs to get you in the feels. The story was very well written and the narration was great! Hated to see the story come to an end, but it came together quite well.

Overall not bad

But to be honest Wyatt must be the worst Navy seal ever. It was almost like he had no real training whatsoever. And Megan’s inner dialogue’s got a little monotonous

To much unneeded story

way to many things that should not have happened. Not realistic at all. I don't want to give away anything but a good book to waste some time.

Apocalypse Romance novel

The romance level to this book was just too much. We have a navy seal that seems nothing like a navy seal. He's too interested in romance to actually defend his friends and family. Our heroine is a "strong woman" that seems to need to be rescued at every turn. She, at every turn, gets her and her daughter hurt or nearly killed because she cant trust groups. Only to be saved by groups. The writer has to write dumb useless characters to create conflict. Use a better story line. It accomplishes the same goal.

You'd do better reading something else

I slogged through all six volumes (in the final 2 praying that I would finish SOON.) The story line is quite implausible. A group of survivors who are eeking out a living in the hills after an EMP, and they run into every manner of bad guy and natural disaster you can think of. Main character Megan should have died in the first few chapters of the first book because she made the rashest, dumbest decisions imaginable, yet somehow she rises to a leadership position in her group. Sadly, the dialog and the plot is something a teenager or young adult with very little real world experience would write. And especially when coming up with sub plots that involved military maneuvers, armory and tactics, this is woefully impossible to believe. The narration didn't help. Andrew Tell's propensity for perfect enunciation was way out of character with most of the personalities in the book. I recommend leaving this series on the bookshelf until you end up in the Apocalypse and have nothing better to read.

tired story

Another tired story about an idiot woman that constantly gets the rest of her survivor group in bad situations. And a boyfriend that despite being a SEAL and an Alpha male puts up with her stupid decisions. Not plausible.

I wish authors would put this in the book description. It would stop a bunch of people from wasting their time.

Book review

The heroine was an exhausting mental case. Less from her perspective and the story would have been better. I fast forwarded through a lot to bypass her angst.

All in all a great listen…

I bought this primarily for the bundle value, and it was well worth it. The stories are believable and relatable enough; sometimes a bit overblown with emotion, but gripping besides that fact… My only complaint with any of the books is this overblown emotional-non logical perspective that the stories roll out with. A Female writer and Female primary protagonist explain this, but you’ll literally find yourself screaming at this characters asinine rationalizations and decisions at certain times. You do not have time to whine, complain, and overthink things (To the point of incredulity if this was real, and I think an insult to the reader’s intelligence …) in a crisis situation. If there’s a fire, then you put it out; you do not whine and opine about how bad the fire is and the merits of the fires origins.
Having said that, the rest of the story was entertaining in its way; so long as you can stomach a certain characters proclivity to blather on at times.
Only a fool would not consider the real and likely implications of an EMP Event
