Although there are a few plot holes and some very confusing failings on our protagonist’s part, overall the story is highly engaging, if slightly complicated. It takes a few chapters to really find your bearings and get a feel for the atmosphere but the fast pacing means that you don’t have to flounder for too long. I appreciate the fact that the protagonist does not feel the need to constantly defer to his female sidekick and instead becomes more independent as the story progresses. Overall a surprisingly satisfying listen given the general quality of audible’s free listens.
