Publisher's Summary
The first in a new series from New York Times best-selling author Shelley Shepard Gray, Edgewater Road invites us into a world of family mysteries, small-town secrets, and perhaps a little romance along the way.
When Jennifer Smiley’s grandmother, Ginny, leaves her an old farmhouse on Edgewater Road in seemingly quiet Ross County, Ohio, Jennifer can’t pass up the opportunity for a new beginning. Almost immediately, she meets a group of men who generously help her move in. When she realizes that they work for Lincoln Bennett, her next-door neighbor, she’s intrigued. Lincoln is gorgeous and has dark lapis-blue eyes she could get lost in...but he doesn’t seem all that friendly. She’s torn between getting to know him and sticking with the solitude she knows so well. Maybe she could let down some of those walls she’s built around her emotions?
Lincoln Bennett likes to keep his head down and get his work done. He’s been to prison, and he knows that a lot of folks don’t take kindly to a man with that kind of history. Plus, he’s busy helping other ex-cons get back on their feet. But when he meets Jennifer, he can’t help but feel an instant attraction. Will she be able to look past his unsavory history? Will she be able to accept the men he’s working so hard to help?
While Jennifer gets to know Lincoln and his friends, she also begins to unravel her grandmother’s story, putting together the pieces from scraps of memories and things she finds in her new home. She soon discovers that Ginny Smiley harbored some dark secrets on Edgewater Road - and that those secrets include both Lincoln and her own absent father. Is learning the truth worth the heartache it could bring?
As the weeks pass and she and Lincoln become closer, Jennifer learns there is a lot to uncover in Ross County - wonderful friendships, darling towns…and more than one secret that might be better left buried.

AMAZON'S LABLES ARE WRONG! NO MYSTERY SOLVED.
AMAZON has this book listed as ( Small Town & Rural ) ( Women's Fiction ) ( Women Sleuths ). WRONG!
It should be ( Christian ) ( Romance ) (Small Town & Rural ) .
If it had been listed this way, I would have given it a pass. Wish I had. Way too much religion for it not to come with the
( Christian ) warning.
( Women Sleuths ) was laughable, as a woman who inherits her grandmother's house is just trying to find out who her grandmother was by going through her stuff and the "Mystery" never gets solved.
Woman also can't even call her neighbor by the name everyone calls him and what he wants to be called.
She is so annoying and stupidly gullible she actually says that everyone on the dating app has to promise to tell the truth, so, of course, they are always telling the truth.
Might have been a good short story if there had been more details about the so-called mystery and how her boyfriend got so much money; if her grandmother was wealthy, where did all the money go, and several other things that were just left hanging . Way too many loose strings. Too many subplots introduced in a way that smells like a way to introduce characters for future books, but should have been edited out this book. Then you might have a salvageable short story. Too many grammatical mistakes in narration.
I liked the moral of the story that most people deserve a second chance,
The narrater, Chelsea Stephens did a fine job and I will look for more of her books

Disappointed
Thought the story progressed slowly and didn’t hold my attention. The last part of story was better but overall I was disappointed with this book.

Can't Stand !!!
Mystery stories should not be "preachy." If I wanted to read inspiration books, that's what I would get not this dribble.

Just my opinion!
The story was great, but I was a lil disappointed. I have listened to this author many times and always enjoyed it. To me her style is changing, there are several words I didn't appreciate. Just my opinion.

Thoroughly Enjoyed
This was my first book by Shelly Shepard Gray and I absolutely loved it! The narrator was great with the tones of each character and the story was wonderful, real, and relatable. Can’t wait for the next one!

Christian Contemporary Romance
What a wild redemption story! This was amazing and the narration was perfect! Lots of different men with none sounding fake, or wrong!
Just perfect!

Good clean book
I liked the story. Yes Lincoln was controlling but in some relationships where nurturing and trust were never there as a child it feels comforting and as their relationship grows both characters grow and I have no doubt Jennifer could take care and put him in his place when it was really important for. I think it was a good clean story. No jumping into bed on a whim and they took time to gain trust and build love

Women beware
The main male character is way too controlling, disapproves of things she does, who she hangs out with, who she talks to. Inappropriate and not how men should treat women and no women should allow herself to be treated this way. And everyone just accepted that was how it should be. Made my skin crawl and I couldn’t even finish it.
