Publisher's Summary

One of the Best Feel-Good Books of 2021 by the Washington Post

“I read Eight Perfect Hours in one sitting, in four perfect hours, because I couldn’t bear to put it down without knowing the ending.” (Jodi Picoult, number one New York Times best-selling author)

In this romantic and heartwarming novel, two strangers meet in chance circumstances during a blizzard and spend one perfect evening together, thinking they’ll never see each other again. But fate seems to have different plans. From the acclaimed author of the “swoon-worthy…rom-com” (The Washington Post) Dear Emmie Blue.

On a snowy evening in March, 30-something Noelle Butterby is on her way back from an event at her old college when disaster strikes. With a blizzard closing off roads, she finds herself stranded, alone in her car, without food, drink, or a working charger for her phone.

All seems lost until Sam Attwood, a handsome American stranger also trapped in a nearby car, knocks on her window and offers assistance. What follows is eight perfect hours together, until morning arrives and the roads finally clear. The two strangers part, positive they’ll never see each other again but fate, it seems, has a different plan. As the two keep serendipitously bumping into one another, they begin to realize that perhaps there truly is no such thing as coincidence.

With plenty of charming twists and turns and Lia Louis’s “bold, standout voice” (Gillian McAllister, author of The Good Sister), Eight Perfect Hours is a gorgeously crafted novel that will make you believe in the power of fate.

Amazing narration for a light romance

Loved the narration and the story. I really felt for the characters and loved how the universe kept moving them together.

alright

the story was light, easy to get through, but at times very surface level and it really relied on its "fate" trope. i liked the narrator, emma powell, enough, but her american accent for the love interest is very awful.

So much more than a romance

This book is so much more than it appears. It does an amazing job at portraying mental illness, in particular anxiety and depression. I love all of these characters. I devoured this in a day and I’ve recommended it to several people already ❤️

Best Christmas Novel Ever!

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Christmas novel that wasn’t all Hallmark hokey! This was so believable with a mix of sadness, hope, and reality. Excellently written and kept me wanting more throughout the entire book! Hated to have it end.

What is up with Sam’s accent?

Has the narrator never heard an American speak?! My word, her trying to emulate an American male is truly torturous. I’m less than an hour in and I’m annoyed.

Sweet & romantic

This was a sweet story with connections where I didn’t expect them. I enjoyed the romance & there were no sex scenes of any sort (no smut).

WOW-One of the best books I have ever read!

Amazing narrator. Incredibly moving & thought-provoking story, beautifully written. Heart wrenching yet ultimately uplifting. So many takeaways to consider- but the best is probably “Act now & Panic later”. My own life is a version of this story, and so it was particularly meaningful for me. Cannot recommend this author and this book and this narrator enough. A 10 out of 5 stars!

Serendipity 🫶🏼

Such a cute story. So charming and serendipitous. I hate corny, predictable love stories. This was anything BUT that! Five stars.
