Publisher's Summary

Loyalty to your people. Loyalty to Rome. Only one can remain...

Centurion Faustus Valerianus has already proven his bravery and skill, marching alongside Julius Agricola for six gruelling years to conquer the north of Britain. But that was just the beginning...

With Agricola back in Rome, Faustus is given a new mission: to journey to Hibernia with exiled Irish prince Tuathal Techtmar and help him reclaim his rightful throne.

But victory is a fleeting thing, and back in Caledonia, fears grow that the land won so convincingly may soon slip away as Rome’s control and influence are at greater risk than ever before.

When events cascade towards a devastating battle, Faustus must finally come to terms with his heritage, resolve his complicated love for a British woman, and lay his father’s shadow, still haunting him from the afterworld, to rest, once and for all.

Will Faustus emerge victorious once again?

An aching, poignant tale of love, family and warfare in the age of Rome, perfect for fans of Ben Kane, Alex Gough, and Andrew Frediani.

Amanda Cockrell, writing as Damion Hunter, is the author of seven previous Roman novels: the four-volume series The Centurions. She grew up in Ojai, California, and developed a fascination with the Romans when a college friend gave her Rosemary Sutcliff’s books to read.

As Good as Damion Hunter's "Centurion" series!

"Empire's Edge" continues the story of Centurion Faustus, who newly promoted, is sent on a special assignment to assist a very young Roman Hostage (Tuathal Techtmar) to organize and train an army of Britons and Irish to fight in Ireland to become the new Irish King. After a series of exciting battles, he is sent to Briton's North to be in charge of defending newly acquired territories for Rome. The author weaves an exciting tale of British infighting and skirmishes and battles to try and control this territory. Faustus has very few auxiliaries that Rome would provide to guard this frontier. I sure hope they turn Book 3 of this trilogy into an audio-book.
