Great listen

the only thing I found annoying about this or negative in any way, was the fact that it was broken into far too many chapters. It would have been nice to have a good straight flow going. However it was extremely educational and also grabbed you right by the gut. heartbreaking absolutely heartbreaking what happened.

Pretty abysmal

I’ve read and watched extensively about Jonestown and this podcast barely scratches the surface. I find the production potentially insulting to the survivors and victims. What’s with the cheesy song half way through?
The producers neglected to include that there were many guns on Jonestown and the victims were held at gunpoint while drinking poison.
The professor who lost her sisters in the massacre sounds snooty.
A rather sensationalized production.
You are better off using credits on “Seductive Poison” and “The Road to Jonestown” if you want to know more details.

important story, want more analysis

want more psych analysis and historical context analysis of other cults and how this happens

So repetitive

Great story and I want to know more but this podcast is so repetitive. Bingeing this at work and I’m hearing the same info over and over. But it just scratches the surface in the story about the cult.

A good start

A well-done introduction to this terrible tragedy. I appreciated the first hand point of view cordings source but by the time I was finished I felt like there was a lot more information I needed to know.

Interesting but repetitive

The story is good, but it seems like every time you turn around they are giving an introduction to the same players like it was the first time.

A lot left untold.

Enjoyed learning about the events leading up to the mass suicide at Jonestown. I found that informative and interesting, as this is my first introduction into the events at Jonestown, but I felt like there was a lot of story left untold. I wish the story was more in-depth. Also found certain parts very repetitive.

alot of repeated storyline ! meh:/

This story seem to be based on two peoples inside of what happened and They repeatedly repeated themselves . and Miss out on really diving into the whole story.

Great telling of a tragic story

This was a very well done series, although I listened to it all one go. I particularly liked the approach taken to tell the story: through the story (eyes/heart/words) of one of the (very few) survivors, supplemented with words from the others. These perspectives were balanced with those of a woman who lost two sisters in the tragedy. There is much that is so very disturbing in this story, but it is told in a way that was listenable, calmly and without hysterics. If you don't know the Jonestown story, it's worth a listen.

Death sermon Jim Jones

This last Jones Town sermon by a man who professed to be God was captivating. At the beginning when he said ( on tape) “ I don’t think I can do this” I felt his fear, empathy, and love for his people. Yes, of course it was all wrong but in his mind he was serving All that was holy. There was nothing that I didn’t like. Would listen to all 100 tapes. Valerie Stewart
