Great series for children

I am almost 10 years old and I love listening to these books. The narrator is awesome, because it's fun that she makes different voices.

My husband (71) couldn't put it down!

Plenty of plot twists and unexpected turns kept his attention. He enjoyed the unusual casting of youth being the ones that were depended on.

most annoying POV character goes to...

Sophie! good grief! this character is a continuous nightmare to read. no consistency. a13 year old narcissist. drags everyone down and her friends are like cool. you just broke all the laws on the books and almost started a war but you did it super cool. can I come next time. jeez. the most enigmatic, maybe good"secret"society that is easily more clever than anyone, and loves to send stupidly cryptic messages is stupidly another super secret societies little punks because that secrey Society knows everything before this secret society does it. list goes on and on. just stop

These books have feeling, action, and fantasy. My favorite characters are Keefe, Sophie, and, most of all, Fitz!!

Easy Listen

This series is Harry Potter meets Twilight. It's an easy read, I was hoping for a little more ingenuity in the story line.

first half slower

The council seemed rather incompetent in this book.
Also, Sophie spent so much time just "planning" with her friends in her room. She spent scenes separately telling Dex and Keethe and Fitz and Biana all her secrets and what she knew about the Black Swan and Neverseen. I wanted action or try-fail cycles. Still, it was interesting to read anyway. So, it was well done.

Then, everything changed when the fire nation attacked. I mean when the everblaze sparked in the second half of the book.

I do think the millennia-old elves should be wiser or nicer or have better plans than they do, though. For a society of ancients, they get flustered easily and don't anticipate the right troubles. None of the elves act as old as they are supposed to be.

As every 13 year old knows

Adult elves are useless. The series is such a head trip, in the literal sense. Sophie Foster-child and other elves seem to spend a lot of time in each other’s heads. Neuro re-engineering projects are child's play, compared to chasing down the bad guys in (invisible) black, no matter how many elves, dwarves and ogres stand in the way. But I will say I expected a lot more out of the winged horse.
And the musketeers press on. Is it worth the listen? Not really, but it will help you appreciate other stories more.
