Story
Golf is a beloved yet technical game, so a sound swing and precise technique are essential. Most golfers who want to improve their skills go to the range and work painstakingly on their swings, not realizing it's often their performance state on the course that needs work, not their technique. Simple things such as awareness of your balance, tension, and tempo, as well as the ability to control mental, emotional, and social variables you encounter while playing, can quickly take your game to a new performance level.

Story
It is no secret that more than two-thirds of the shots a golfer makes are shorts ones: putts, chips, and pitches. Long drives may garner applause, but whether a golfer wants to win the Masters or just five bucks from a friend on Saturday morning, it’s the little shots that make the difference. In The Unstoppable Golfer, Dr. Bob Rotella takes the same wisdom and experience that have worked for clients like Davis Love III and David Toms to help you master this special art of short shots and avoid all the frustration out of this increasingly challenging element of the game.

Ever since his astonishing victory in the 1991 PGA Championship, John Daly has enthralled fans with his big drives, bigger personality, and "Grip It and Rip It" approach to golf - and to life. Usually seen with a Marlboro Light dangling from his lip, John is the unchained, unpredictable, unapologetic bad boy of professional golf. My Life in and out of the Rough is a thrillingly - and sometimes shockingly - candid memoir of a larger-than-life athlete battling assorted addictions (alcohol, gambling, chocolate, sex), his weight, and, perhaps worst of all, divorce lawyers.

Publisher's Summary
As coaches to some of golf's top players, Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott have designed and refined a revolutionary way of teaching the game, with phenomenal results. They don't believe in prescribing the same stance, grip, and swing to everyone, followed by hours of purposeless drilling. They don't even believe in beginning with physical technique. Their success has proven to them that a great game begins with a great vision.
Unlike any other golf book, Every Shot Must Have a Purpose offers cutting-edge techniques for integrating the physical, technical, mental, emotional, and social parts of a player's game. Emphasizing the individual golfer rather than a rigid set of mechanics, their VISION54 method takes the frustration out of the game. Why 54? Because they believe it's possible to shoot a 54 (making a birdie on every hole of a par-72 course) if you have the right mindset and well-honed intuitive power.

More prepared to enjoy the game than ever
Many years ago I read The Inner Game of Tennis - it informed my view not only of tennis and other sports but many other aspects of life. Unfortunately I had great difficulty transferring that knowledge to golf. (Including reading The Inner Game of Golf - quite a let down). This book serves as the equal to the former and in fact aligns with it in many ways BUT comes from a true golf knowledge base. Great read. I plan to enjoy the game much more now.

good book for golfers of every type
I always knrw golf was more mental than physical, and now I can fully understand why. Golf is tge ultimate mental game... but the thing that makes it perfect is that your opponent is yourself. Learning to overcome this challenge, i found, is really the message of this book.

Fantastic In Every Way!
This is the best golf instruction book out there. It absolutely changed the way I think about golf. the authors are brilliant in their ability to connect so many mental, physical, and emotional components under one unifying philosophy. Nothing is assumed, and each chapter progressively builds the case for golf as a completely immersive experience in which every aspect can be positive if you approach it logically and thoughtfully. Also, the narrator is great….her tone is perfectly suited to the material. I will be listening again and again. It really is that good!

Shot 77 first round after listening to the book
I love how this broke down the entire round of golf into small pieces. It did a great job of making me realize there are only so many things I can control. I should only concern myself with those little things. It got me to play each shot as if it were the ONLY shot I was going to take that day, so why not make it the BEST possible shot you can make.
My previous best score was an 82. Tuesday I went out and committed to every shot. I took my time in the Think box, and just executed in the Play Box. I made sure to have a positive thought after EVERY shot I took. If the shot was less than expected, I was able to find something positive that came out of it. (Missing a green allowed me to work on my chipping. Hitting into a green side bunker allowed me to execute a splash shot. A drive behind a tree, left me the chance to punch out into the fairway). I never got down. I was playing well at the turn, so I did not add up my score. I then asked my playing partner to track my scores on the back nine. When I got done, I had him add my round up and much to my surprise I had shot 39-38. 77!!!! Not thinking about the round, but staying in the moment of each shot made me not get down at the few hiccups, nor get too elated when I strung 5 pars in a row. This will be a go to listen any time I feel my game slipping away. I now know I am capable of breaking 80, so I hope it is a trend that continues.
