Publisher's Summary

With magic declassified in the UK, the fake psychics and fraudulent healers are running amok, and it's up to the Department of Extradimensional Affairs' newly appointed Skepticism Officers to crack down. But when they set their sights on Modern Miracle, a highly suspicious and fast-growing faith healing cult with remarkably good social media presence, even their skepticism is put to the test.

Is Modern Miracle on the level? Is Miracle Meg’s healing magic real? Why do dead bodies keep showing up on their doorstep? And just what is Miracle Dad's preferred flavour of crisp?

In Existentially Challenged, the sequel to Differently Morphous, the men and women of the Department of Extradimensional Affairs continue their struggle to uncover the motives of the Ancients under the ever-present threat of death, insanity, and sensitivity training.

Please Sir, I’d like some more!

Comedy should be funny, and this one is. It’s also the best thing Croshaw has written so far. Having a straight-laced, sincere protagonist counters his nihilistic edge, and makes the cynical world all the more interesting because she has no desire to buck the system. Allicent’s earnestness is a refreshing island in a world where everyone is looking to weaponize “kindness” for their own benefit, throwing all the hypocrisy into sharper relief than Croshaw’s more jaded protagonists ever could. She’s far from perfect, as she may go along with the madness and be a part of it, but she is a well-meaning straight man who allows the cast to shine while remaining likeable and intelligent in her own right. While the world and concept isn’t anything terribly new in fiction, I do like this cast of characters and the commentary on modern society, even if neither has really been explored as much as I think they deserve.

In a year of some bad audiobook reads and unfunny comedies, Croshaw continues to deliver the laughs. But this is his first series where I actually want to follow the cast to many, many stories. I hope we get them!

Yahtz is a good britbong, he can both write an interesting novel and perform a one man theatre to play it.

IGN Game award winner for most anticipated sequel.

Like other fans of Differently Morphous I was ecstatic when Yahtzee announced this book. With such a strong first showing, I was interested to see where this series was headed. After completing the audiobook I can say that it did not disappoint.

We step back into the amazing world of DEDA and all the magic that comes along with it. This book dives deeper into the relationships and characters of the original as they continue to navigate the newly exposed magical world. Tackling the topics of government policy, religion, magic exploitation, and the power of online groups Yahtzee continues to expand this incredible universe.

And so begins the wait for the third instalment.

More Dead!

I loved it. Croshaw is as good as all of the classic British authors, as clever and witty in his writing as Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams. constantly laughing and wanting to know more about this world!

Getting into the meat of the story.

Where the first book in the series had to build the world from the ground up, this book is free to roll the story forward. It's funny and better put together and is less snarky but maintains the author's voice. Maybe I mean it's less unkind to the central character and some of the supporting.

Really enjoyed it and look forward to the next outing

A compelling sequel

Both scratches the itch and leaves you wanting more. Yahtzee is unravelling the mysteries of this universe slowly, but satisfyingly.

Unusual Plot Twists

Another very enjoyable story by Yahtzee Croshaw! British humor combined with biting satire at several levels makes me eager to hear his next oeuvre. Good job Yahtzee!

Yahtzee does it again!!

Words can scarcely express how pleased I am that the series he's begun are continuing. As always, a hilarious, relevant, brilliantly crafted story, told in the style of a frame narrative. Extremely enjoyable, just like his other works. I just wish he'd re-release Mogworld and Jam!!!

Excellent book though, and a wonderdul performance in Yahtzee's signature style, with his unique accent and mannerisms.
