Publisher's Summary

The greatest discovery in human history may also be our last.

Dr. Jack Greer's startling discovery beneath the Gulf of Mexico proved to the world we were not alone in the universe. But when images from the Voyager One space probe reveal an alien doomsday ship hurtling toward the Earth, the human race seems marked for extinction.

As news of the approaching ship spreads panic around the globe, signs of a sinister plot begin to emerge - one that threatens to unravel the already fragile fabric of society and everything Jack and Dr. Mia Ward have fought for.

But could a mysterious signal emanating from inside Greenland's ice sheet unlock the secrets hidden within our genome and prevent humanity's destruction?

From the frozen fields of Greenland to the bustling Indian subcontinent and the cobbled streets of Rome, the race is on to stop the deadliest countdown to extinction the human race has ever known.

Review book 2 Extension Countdown: Ancient Origins series book 2

Unbelievable follow up to book 1. James Prescott is an amazing author and when joined by Gary Tiedemann’s abilities, you have a story and performance that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a series you will want in your library.

Great second book!

Book 2 sees so many twists and turns that I almost got whiplash!! I flew through the audio and had a hard time taking out my earbuds.

The plot was even better than the first book. Jack Greer finds out that there is a spaceship after being sighted just days away from earth, and that there's some sort of signal coming from inside Greenland's ice sheet. With the countdown one, can he save humanity before it's too late!! This book was fast paced, intense and gripping. I didn't want to stop listening because I needed to see what would happen next. Intrigue, secrets, and plenty of twists made this a must read for everyone.

All the characters were well written and developed. I think my favourite though is the AI, Anna. She is quickly growing on me :) Jack, Mia and even Admiral Stark are all easy to like and make it really easy to root for them.

In all, this was a great second book and I'm really looking forward to the next one.

Gary Tiedemann was clear, concise and easy to listen to. He has plenty of tones and voices for the different characters and is able to make them easily distinguishable.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

Awesomeness! Science, intrigue, Aliens, suspense!

Extinction Countdown
Ancient Origins Series, Book 2
By: James D. Prescott
Narrated by: Gary Tiedemann
This is an Audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I loved the first book and this one is just as good. Something triggered the death of millions of people since the last book. The alien ship is sighted coming toward Earth. Secrets are revealed, so many twists and turns, corruption everywhere, and new connections between the aliens coming and the changes to humans are made. Lots of suspense, intrigue, government corruption, science brain food, and great imaginary possibilities!
The narration was terrific! Wonderful performance from start to finish!

Great second book

I loved the first book in this series so this book had a lot of expectations to live up to and it delivered. A lot happens in this book, it was like being on an adventure park ride.

The story is excellent and it's well executed, there are plenty of twists and nothing can be taken for granted. I've come to care for the characters, they're so well written it's impossible not to want them to survive and thrive.

I love all the tech, especially Anna who is developing so quickly as an AI.

This book left me desperate to know what will happen when the aliens reach earth so I'm definitely going to be getting my hands on book three.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Fantastic and can we get book 3 our now PLEASE!

I wished I could tell you more about this story but I’d had to start at the beginning with Extinction Code and now with Countdown I was wondering how the Author would top the first novel but to my surprise, the book was pleasant with enough twist and turns and more than anything the huge twist that will more than definitely will make the series finale a riveting tale that involves our past, our present and our future. Where do we come from, where are we going and how and where did we evolve from, and how a government secret can and will change all of humanity forever and the route human kind is heading without a warning. What a new species could mean for all of human kind... Read it. You will love it.

Extinction Countdown

This story is fun, the characters are enjoyable. What I love about this author is his unpredictability. Many times you know exactly what the plot will be right away when you are first reading a book.

Great. Except for examples of lazy production values.

Narration and storyline were great.
The only irritating part - an indication of crappy editing/publishing and in no way a reflection on the writer - is the promise of “and now for an excerpt of book 3” which wasn’t there. That happened on book 1 as well - except the excerpt WAS THERE, just not where announced.
That’s the ultimate in lazy lazy lazy production attitudes. It isn’t hard to listen to your product before selling it for $14-$15. Stop cutting corners and making me mistrust your other editorial and production choices - making me wonder what other things you left out, didn’t fix, or just didn’t care enough to check.

Could be really good.

It’s entertaining and easy to follow. Therein lies the problem. I wish Prescott was a better writer or maybe had better editors. The depth to the story is lacking IMHO.
I’m not going to say everything that happens is predictable but dang near. Especially with out “hero” Jack. No matter the odds you somehow know he can fall into a vat of cow dung and come out smelling like a rose... it gets 3 stars for empathy.
But hey, for a nice easy going listen when you don’t want to engage too many of your Nissl bodies pick up the book and if you’re still with it on the 3rd in the series you must be seriously lethargic.

Fast and Fury

This book starts with a good introduction to our protagonists. The story develops twists and turns that keep you hooked. At the climax, I had to hold my breath, the tension was so great. The story ends leaving you tired but satisfied. If you want a book worth feeling, this is it.
