About this listen

Darkness falls on the Great Green, and the Ancient World is fiercely divided. On the killing fields outside the golden city of Troy, forces loyal to the Mykene King mass. Among them is Odysseus, fabled storyteller and reluctant ally to the Mykene, who knows that he must soon face his former friends in deadly combat.

Within the city, the Trojan king waits. Ailing and bitter, his hope is pinned on two heroes: his favourite son, Hektor, and the dread Helikaon, who will wreak terrible vengeance for the death of his wife at Mykene hands.

War has been declared. As enemies, who are also kinsmen, are filled with bloodlust, they know that many of them will die and that some will become heroes: heroes who will live forever in a story that will echo down the centuries.

I have read this series multiple times and I must say Thomas Judd did did an outstanding job, I could not have asked for more. Absolutely brilliant! 10/10

Absolutely enthralling

After an insufferable 2nd installment in the Troy series, it ends on an absolute high note. A great mix of action, story and character building, this is the gem in the trilogy. THE fight that everyone is looking forward to does not disappoint, and has a nice take on it rather than the traditional story. Highly recommended.

Fantastic conclusion

It's been more than a decade since I first read this book. My discovery of a love for reading in my teens had me purchasing a few new books: one of the Wheel of Time sequels and one of the Drizzt books. There was a sale option I wasn't aware of: buy there get one. I panick picked Troy: Fall of Kings. It has since become one of my favourite series by one of my favourite author and this is the fourth time I have read it, and coming to the book with who David Gemmell was as a person, the trajectory of his writing career, and his cancer, I adore this book all the more, and the tragic siege of Troy takes on a new life. The epilogue is not only a fantastic send off to the characters of the book: but a heartbreaking send off to a Father and a writer who will never die so long as his stories are shared.

Tear jerker
