Publisher's Summary

Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry.

The Cotswolds village of Bunburry is not only picturesque but also historic, about to mark its 500th anniversary. Self-made millionaire and amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister is dreading the celebrations, having been coopted to make a speech from an outsider's perspective, despite having lived in the village for more than four years. But Dorothy from the post office has worse concerns. She suspects the mayor of the neighbouring town of Rimingford is using the celebrations for dodgy dealings. It's exactly the sort of situation to be investigated by the Bunburry Triangle: Alfie and his elderly friends Liz and Marge. But Dorothy decides she's going to uncover the truth without any help. This could prove a dangerous mistake...

Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series Piece of Cake. He is also the lead in the BBC series The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audio books to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

A bit rushed

Good overall. Without spoiling it, two of the storylines within felt rushed. One that has been running since the beginning, pretty much, and the other somewhat newer. There is so much that could have been done with the characters if the writer had chosen to take it a bit slower. I'm not sure where the writer plans to go with this. I hope it's not wrapping up anytime soon.

Perfect!

It was much too short! But at last, they connected Alfie and Emma. I really love the Bunburry Mysteries. When is the next one? Hopefully, Nathaniel Parker will also be part of the team still. He is absolutely the best with his different voices. Thank you very much!

Not bad

Love the end but the story got hit with a bit of wokeness. I mean to make a big stink over something a person did 500 years ago, when pretty much everyone did the same thing and condemning him based on today’s standards seemed like a stretch for the plot.

Loved it!

I do hope Helena Marchmont continues to write these Bunburry Mysteries and have Nathaniel Parker to narrate them. This match (author & narrator) is absolutely perfect. Even though these stories are short, they feel well-fleshed out. They are absolutely perfect for those who don't want to invest 10+ hours in a book. I love the author's sense of humour and Nathaniel really captures it so well.
Yes, I do recommend this book to others. as well as all of the Bunburry mysteries. May the Bunburry Triangle live on!

...it just ends! :(

I understand now why other reviewers said what they did: other episodes did seem somewhat rushed when everything was tied up neatly in the end, but this one took the cake! It was just so abrupt. Regardless, I still enjoyed this entire series, happy to find out how all of the relationships worked out. I was cheering when Alfie finally had the epiphany that he should communicate with his friends instead of assuming things all the time! Bunburry Mysteries is something I will listen to again and recommend to others.
