Publisher's Summary

The complete series 1-5 of the thrilling mystery series. On sabbatical from the Franciscan order, Father Paolo Baldi is working as a philosophy lecturer in Dublin when his life takes an unexpected turn and he finds himself helping the police to solve crimes.

Along with Tina, Paolo uncovers the truth behind the killings of several rockabilly band members, a high-profile case of a police officer’s murder, as well as delving into the highly competitive world of celebrity chefs. He also exposes a rift in a community of environmental activists, enters the world of romantic poetry to solve a suspected suicide, investigates the killing of a politically-incorrect figurehead, and finds that the death of a homeless man is not as simple as it appears.

Follow the priest-cum-sleuth’s thrilling adventures as he solves mysteries throughout Ireland.

Entertaining Collection

A well performed and interesting series of short stories. The characters develop along the way. The stories include a variety of subjects and circumstances. Well worth the credit.

Excellent. Great stories, superb performances.

I expect that at some point, poor Father Baldi will need counselling for PTSD given that people drop dead around him endlessly. The Baldi Mysteries continues in the best tradition of Columbo - the meek, unassuming protagonist continually exposing the killer through sophisticated cogitation - this time, our man is a semiotician priest - glorious! Masterful performances all 'round, but Threlfall as Baldi is utterly charming, his performance engaging and convincing. So much so that I was genuinely disappointed when it was over. Now that's what I call a good listen.

Excellent mysteries

I am really enjoying this series, BBC Radio dramas have yet to disappoint! Please ignore the other review that references the fading voices, I doubt that the reviewer has listened to radio dramas before, this is pretty par for the course, it indicates a scene change. Baldi was never a television series either, it has always been a radio drama, so that reviewer is mistaken completely. The episodes are succinct but still have twists and I love the building friendship of Paolo and Tina. Well worth the credit!

Wish I could return this

I am sure this was a good tv show, and there are some tv shows I have listened to via audible or podcasts and are good, like AC’s poirot, but this audible collection is horribly edited for audio only production. First, at the end of some scenes the audio just fades when they are in the middle of a conversation...I guess that is where a commercial was, but then it switches to a new scene and it’s very hard to follow.

I thought this would almost be like a Father brown mystery but nope. The acting is okay, but overall, unless you know this series and like it and just want to re-listen to it, save your credit.
