Publisher's Summary

Alex Cross enters the final battle with the all-knowing genius who has stalked him and his family for years.

Dr. Alex Cross and Detective John Sampson venture into the rugged Montana wilderness - where they will be the prey.

They’re not on the job, but on a personal mission.

Until they’re attacked by two rival teams of assassins, controlled by the same mastermind who has stalked Alex and his family for years.

Darkness falls. The river churns into rapids. Shots ring out through the forest.

No backup. No way out. Fear no evil.

Disappointing to say the least

Have read all of the Alex Cross books but this will be the last. This is not much better than a dime store novel. Shallow plots and terrible writing - really can't believe that this a Patterson novel.

unsettled

I don’t like to write lengthy reviews (or what I see are just non stop spoilers and unnecessary criticism not related to the story.)
So, the best I can do is mention the change in Narrator is acceptable due to my favorite Fellow retiring and the new fellow flowed almost immediately, and if you’ve not read the books in order, there are enough brief explanations to prevent losing interest in a not fully expressed
main character. While this isn’t my favorite of the series (the previous book is my favorite of them all,) it was a nice respite from Soviet espionage!
Alex Cross fans will like it.

Fear what exactly?

This was the most boring, uneventful, mess of an Alex Cross book. I have been a fan of Patterson my entire adult life, but the downward spiral of garbage /co writting has finally made it to the singular writting of the Alex Cross series. Patterson could have plugged in any number of characters in to this book and it would have come out terrible. The story dragged on and on then ended abruptly with without the wiff of confrontation or climax. Skip this and the rest of Patterson's latest books. They are aweful!

Not what I expected waited a long time for a new Alex cross

The stories were a little strange I did not like the way they ran into one another to much going on in the book and the narrator was terrible I’m finding more and more with audible books the narrators are not up to par as in the past this is not a good Alex cross novel I’m sorry I wasted my money and I really love these books

Wow, disappointed

Unfortunately this one was a miss for me. Maybe the unrealistic cloak and dagger themes have ran out for me. A situation is brought up and played out in such a way that although vaguely entertaining it is too unrealistic. Not enough development with each situation for this reader before it comes to some fantastical crescendo resolution. It was like reading a bunch of shorts mended together to make a longer story. I truly expected much more!
