Story
Kay Willingham led a life as glamorous as it was public - she was a gorgeous Georgetown socialite, philanthropist, and the ex-wife of the vice president. So why was she parked in a Bentley convertible idling behind a DC private school, in the middle of the night, with the man who was the head of that school? Who shot them both, point blank, and why? The shocking double homicide is blazed across the internet, TV, newspapers - and across Alex Cross's mind. Kay had been his patient once. And maybe more.

Fear what exactly?
This was the most boring, uneventful, mess of an Alex Cross book. I have been a fan of Patterson my entire adult life, but the downward spiral of garbage /co writting has finally made it to the singular writting of the Alex Cross series. Patterson could have plugged in any number of characters in to this book and it would have come out terrible. The story dragged on and on then ended abruptly with without the wiff of confrontation or climax. Skip this and the rest of Patterson's latest books. They are aweful!

unsettled
I don’t like to write lengthy reviews (or what I see are just non stop spoilers and unnecessary criticism not related to the story.)
So, the best I can do is mention the change in Narrator is acceptable due to my favorite Fellow retiring and the new fellow flowed almost immediately, and if you’ve not read the books in order, there are enough brief explanations to prevent losing interest in a not fully expressed
main character. While this isn’t my favorite of the series (the previous book is my favorite of them all,) it was a nice respite from Soviet espionage!
Alex Cross fans will like it.

Narrator Cary Hite ruins listening experience
Cary Hite is just not a fluid reader. Accents are terrible and I can hear him focus on pronunciation so much because he must over articulate words with three or more syllables. He distracts me from enjoying the story.

Disappointed
I am huge Patterson and Alex Cross series fan. This was the first that was a disappointment. I am not sure if it was narrator reading the book or just general story. I really did not care for the performance and don’t think I would purchase any other books with this narrator. I struggled to listen to the entire book and almost quick several times. The story line seemed forced.
