Publisher's Summary

In the new thriller from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Scottoline, Mary DiNunzio’s ruthless nemesis Nick Machiavelli is back...with a vengeance.

When three men announce that they are suing the Rosato & DiNunzio law firm for reverse sex discrimination—claiming that they were not hired because they were men—Mary DiNunzio and Bennie Rosato are outraged. To make matters worse, their one male employee, John Foxman, intends to resign, claiming that there is some truth to this case.

The plaintiffs’ lawyer is Nick Machiavelli, who has already lost to Mary once and is now back with a vengeance —determined not to not only win, but destroy the firm. It soon becomes clear that Machiavelli will do anything in his power to achieve his end…even after the case turns deadly. The stakes have never been higher for Mary and her associates as they try to keep Machiavelli at bay, solve a murder, and save the law firm they love…or they could lose everything they’ve worked for. Told with Scottoline's trademark gift for twists, turns, heart, and humanity, this latest thriller asks the question: Is it better to be loved, or feared...

Feared, the sixth entry in the acclaimed Rosato & DiNunzio series, expertly explores what happens when we are tempted to give in to our own inner darkness.

Praise for the Rosato & DiNunzio series:

Excellent legal thriller in a wonderful series

The Rosato & DiNunzio legal thriller series by Lisa Scottoline is always fun and this sixth novel in the series does not disappoint. The final hour is a bit fanciful dropping the novel from 5 stars to four. Narration by Kate Burton is outstanding.

Just had to finish the story!!!

Loved the book!!! Lisa Scottoline never lets me down. This series is one of my favorites and it is wonderful when a story line can move forward without losing the characters that we fall in love with. Like a family. 🙂

Brilliant

I enjoy Lisa Scottoline's books. The twist and turns are fabulous.

I always like the all women firm, but now including men.

I have listened to so many audiobooks that I am familiar with the firm's partners and associates: Bennie, Ann, Judy and Mary, etc..

I'm looking forward to the next book!

Silly and predictable

I have read most of the books in this series. This one was a real disappointment. The story was silly and predictable and the reader was terrible, making the characters almost comical.

Exciting

Golly, an all-female law firm is sued for sex discrimination. The one male employee is murdered. Mary is in late-term pregnancy. I have read all the Rosato series books. I must admit that Bennie Rosato is my favorite character in the series. It seems to me that the last few books have featured Mary DiNunzio and Judy Carrier as does this one. It was great to have Anne Murphy back. I was beginning to think Scottoline had dropped her from the series.

The book is well written. The plot twists and turns. Scottoline is an excellent storyteller and an attorney so the story stays reasonable. I always enjoy Mary’s large Italian family. Each of the women attorneys is quite different in personalities and have different skill sets that help to make the story more interesting. It is best to read the series in order; this way you become part of the family. If you enjoy a good, fun legal who-done-it, this book is for you.

The book is almost eleven hours. Kate Burton does an excellent job narrating the book. Burton is the daughter of Richard Burton. She has a magnificent voice that is great for audiobook narration. She is also an award-winning actress.

Great book, disturbing narration

I thought the book was great. I couldn't put it down, like all the other Rosato books. I found, however, the narration to be disturbing. Why was the narrator doing a black voice, Indian accent, and cerebral palsy voice? The book did not reference the African American character and Indian character as having accents. And although one would presume the character with cerebral palsy might speak differently, I thought it was offensive to try.

Great story, narration could be better

Lisa Scottoline doesn’t disappoint in this book, taking a few unexpected turns. Judy’s and Mary’s voices as read by the narrator just didn’t hit the mark. If you can ignore that, you’ll no doubt enjoy this book!
