Publisher's Summary

Bloodlust and insanity rule my existence. As a fierce drakoni warrior, this strange new world I find myself in eats at my mind until there is nothing left. There is no light or clarity...until she arrives. I save her life, plucking her from the sky.

From that point on, she is mine.

But the human I have chosen for my mate - Sasha - is fragile and wounded. She does not trust me and fears my presence. I will not give up, though. I will do anything to give her my fires and bond us both in body and spirit. How can I convince her that I want nothing more than her happiness if she will not let me touch her?

How does a dragon woo a human?

So much better then abticipated

I thought this book would be just like book 1 but, it was all its own. And delved deeper into why the Draken came to the world.

I loved the story so much

Good story

The I like it but the male narrator is awful and I’m getting sick of the constant hostage scenes and the girls sheer stupidity.

It’s okay, I like the spice just lacking a real story

Just like the first book, the book is basically just a dragon trying to claim a human woman as his mate which can be redundant but towards the end we get a glimpse of the real story that will unfold so hopefully it will get better

Good But Too Long

Narration was excellent again. I do wish we heard more from the drakoni's perspectives.

So this book was way too long. I listened to most of the book at 1.4x speed, and sometimes even faster to get through some of the parts that dragged on. Twice I got bored and considered turning this book off, but fortunately, the story picked up with new twists before I turned it off.

I'll continue listening to this series while it's free on audible, but I definitely would not use my credits on this series.

Loved it!

Fire in his kiss is the second book in the series. It starts with Claudia and her dragon mate attempting to rescue her sister and best friend Sasha from the fort and continues with Sasha's story. I'd previously read this book and loved it so much I decided to finally purchase the audiobook. Well worth the money! I've enjoyed everything written by Ruby Dixon. Contains an exciting storyline along with some steamy sex and a HEA.

Great series, book 2!

I'm thoroughly enjoying this series by Ruby Dixon! The story of an event the people of Earth call "The Rift" where dragon shifters end up suddenly on Earth from another dimension and their need for human females to keep them from madness has a unique flair. The sarcastic and witty conversations that the hero and heroine have make the audiobook so much fun to listen to. Great narration and I'm looking forward to the next book!

Do you like spineless women?

If you enjoy women who are weak, barely competent, and think things like, "...time to be brave. I hate being brave..." then this is the series for you!

The first book in the series was a bit of work to get through, being filled with tired sexist tropes and a heroine who couldn't decide if she was an independent adult capable of surviving and protecting others in a post apocalyptic world, a blithering idiot who lost any sense of tactics soon as a man spoke to her, or a closet submissive desperate to cede herself to a domineering male. Nothing wrong with any of them except when they're all crammed into one character and you're expected to suspend disbelief. At least the dragon was internally consistent and had a massive desire for consent.

This second book....nope. The protagonist was even worse. I only got through half of the second chapter before mentally throwing it at the wall.

It says nothing good about humanity that a romance story can be built around the bones of a woman having to be nice to and put out for a male simply to avoid violence and rape.

progress!

I was a bit worried when things happened rather quickly in this book, but it turns out that it's completely warranted. I know that one of the things that frustrated a lot of readers with the first book was the lack of information about where the dragons came from. this answers a lot more questions, and yet gives many more.

Increase in story

The first book could've definitely begin a one shot story but now with added details of the second I'm hooked. With a constant supply of dragons needing a good mate and a story that keeps feeding the listener/reader little tid bits, it only adds to the appeal.

This books epilogue is awesome is my book.

Sasha and Dahk - All men bad, dragons good

I love Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarian series; that one’s full of sexy, blue suede devils who hook up with human ladies in campy, funny, naughty fashion. I also like dragons, fantasy, and dystopian post-apocalypse stories. So, I thought this series would be great. But, even though the first three books in this series are free as part of Audible Escapes, I’m only finding them two star “okay” for a few reasons:

* The emerging trend is that all human men are douche bags who prey on the weak, especially by mentally, physically, and sexually abusing women. The idea that the only good man for a woman is a dragon is depressing. I’m not seeing hope for humanity or society- just HEAs and hope for the specific pairs of dragon-lady couples.
* The supposedly strong, intelligent lady leads are amazingly obtuse and rather selfish and superficial when it comes to figuring out their dragon-human relations.
* In the IPB series, the language barrier issue gets solved more quickly, but here it seems every book will require hours of “what’s that Lassie, are you going to eat me for dinner or do you want to be my mate” miscommunications.
* Primitive conditions, raw meat, and lack of hygiene do not make for sexy good times. How hard can it be to give our couples a city to restore so our couples can have hot showers and soft beds?

I think I’d enjoy these more if these books were to get cut down by a few hours, there were some good human males, and the story veered more to light, campy, sexy good times. I’ll get book 3 because it’s free, but if it turns out to be more of the same “everything outside the couple-bubble sucks” story, I will not be purchasing anything else in the series.

Sasha & Dakh.

Another good addition to the story, but I had wished for a bit more action. I had a good chuckle over the prep for the perfect picnic, it was too funny, especially since you knew Dack was screwing it all up. There was a little hiccup in the recording at about hour 4:10 the audio repeats about 5 minutes of the story. Shasha was border line annoying though and her pity party was a bit much that she had towards the end of the book. Don’t read this if you are into serious post-apocalyptic details, because this one has holes. But if you in for a sexy romance, this one is it. Again, it this series has some pretty hot sex scene, and again I think some of them could have been edited out. I do look forward to the others in this series. I like the narrators.

Better and worse than the first

The drama that developed towards the end of the book was flimsy and annoying to me. I almost wanted to stop listening. Also the male narrator sounds too much like a serial killer for me to get into his character without being mildly to moderately creeped out. He did seem more dimensional though than the dragon in book one.
