Story
Aranos has done the impossible: He's freed the first Fallen Realm in mortal reckoning and returned victorious. He and his follower Geltheriel should be hailed as heroes and celebrated throughout the Stronghold of Eredain. Instead, Aranos finds himself surrounded by elves that are both secretly and openly hostile. He and his new party descend nightly into the corrupted Blightlands to battle the Darkness and to try and reclaim more lands for the Light, but each day the elves place more obstacles in his path, from attempts at treachery to outright attacks.

Story
Noah didn’t expect much from entering the virtual reality world of Asgard’s Fall. Even the danger of the experimental full immersion technology didn’t put him off. It beat living in a nursing home, and it was supposed to let him feel young again...at least until modern medicine and his body gave out. But there was something wrong with Asgard’s Fall. Most of the time, the “gods” running the game didn’t act like AIs were supposed to. Some of the players took things too seriously, like they knew something about the game that Noah didn’t.

Publisher's Summary
The Singularity - the merger of man and machine into a greater whole - is finally within humanity's grasp. When programmer Jeff Lawing gets the opportunity to join Singularity Online, the world's first realistic VRMMO and the testing ground that will lead to the Singularity, he leaps to accept.
Singularity is much more realistic and darker than Jeff had imagined, though. As a Sorcerer, his arcane magic is limited only by his imagination, allowing him to craft powerful spells forged from his desires. As the only Sorcerer in the game, he'll need to carve his own path, with only an ancient specter as his guide.
Will his new powers be enough to see him through the deadliest training quest he's ever encountered or to protect him in a fallen realm filled with undead? Does the have the courage and passion he needs to seize the mantle of First Sorcerer?

bad game
So a book where buddy is in a terrible game how fun. The tutorial dungeon uses respawn as a mechanic to exit rooms instead of simply unsealing itself after a successful clear like any normal game. Add to that buddy dies a couple of time at each encounter like some darksouls endgame area. Whoever designed that tutorial section is a sadistic ai. I would not have fun playing such a dumb game but also completely invalidates death very early on. Even books like emerilia who also had respawn as a combat tactic didn't make deaths consequence free as to not remove all the tension from encounters. Hours in and ive yet to find anything enjoyable about the story.
