Pretty average overall, and very much of its time.

The story hasn't aged well. I lived through the era, and remember reading the book as a kid. I liked it then, but perhaps my tastes have matured. The story is very much "Bargain Tom Clancy".

The narration doesn't help. I am a stickler for accents. The narrator's version of "Irish" sounds like a posh English version of "Welsh". His "Russian" sounds vaguely Jamaican. And it's "to-VAR-itch", not "to-va-REESH".

A tepid, predictable book with an underqualified narrator. Save your credits.
