Publisher's Summary

Best friends. Unrequited love. A story that spans decades.

Wyatt

At 12, he was my best friend. At 16, he became my crush. And now, at 34, he’s the man I’m still pining after.

Falling in love with Easton was never part of the plan. But now that I’ve done it, I can’t seem to stop. It doesn’t help that we’re living under the same roof. Or that Easton is so dang sweet I want to lick him from head to toe.

But Easton is straight, and all the cattle in Texas won’t change the fact that he’ll never look at me the way I see him. I want someone who can love me back. And I won’t be able to find that while I’m hung up on my best friend.

It’s time to find a way to say good-bye.

Easton

I always knew I was a little bit different than everybody else. When kids my age were hooking up, all I wanted to do was sit on the ranch with Wyatt and plot out our future. I didn’t need anyone else.

When Wyatt leaves Plum Valley, he takes a piece of me with him. When he returns at the moment I need him most, he helps me to heal and feel whole again. We have a good life now, Wyatt and I, best friends still after all these years.

So when I happen to catch my friend down on his knees in the barn, I don’t understand why, all of a sudden, I’m thinking things I shouldn’t be. Now, I can’t stop wondering and wanting.

But would taking that chance with Wyatt risk the best thing in my life?

Fool Hearts is a small-town longtime-friends-to-lovers romance with a whole lot of pining, a bi-awakening in a barn, swoon-worthy cowboys, a roller coaster of emotions, and one very HEA. It’s book one in the Plum Valley Cowboys series but can be listened to as a stand-alone.

One of the best

I have read all of Emmy's books and loved them all. But I've been more into audiobooks lately. So when I learned she put out an audiobook, I did an instant pre-order!

While I love all Emmy's books, Wyatt and Easton will always have a special place in my heart. Their relationship is just so beautiful. Even when Easton is oblivious, their friendship is deep and unconditional. This is probably my 3rd time reading Fool Hearts, and I cry and laugh every time, even though I know exactly what happens. I also love rereading it to see the Easter eggs Emmy put in that signal things that happen in future books.

The diversity of characters, life views, and sexualities are awesome. And the narrator is 100% perfect for this book.

Wyatt & Easton

This book is AMAZING. I first read it in November and bought the audiobook when it came out this month because it’s sooooo good and I had to listen to Wyatt and Easton’s story again.

They were best friends from a young age and poor Wyatt figured out he was in love with his best friend when he was a teenager. Not being able to handle seeing Easton build a life with their friend Becca and after being outed to the town, Wyatt leaves Plum Valley.

When a heartbreaking event happens and Easton needs his help, Wyatt comes back to help him right away. After YEARS of pining for his friend and loving him in secret, Wyatt FINALLY sees his dream come true when Easton realizes his attraction for him.

Wyatt was loyal and devoted to Easton for all his life and never truly gave up hope. Easton was kind-hearted and so accepting of Wyatt even though he had been raised in a town where being gay was not seen kindly.

Their friendship was so strong and it was truly beautiful to see it transform into a loving relationship. The emotions Wyatt felt after finally being able to have Easton were so heartfelt. I loved how, even after her passing, Becca remained an important part of them. They kept her memory alive.

I highly recommend the book.
