Publisher's Summary
Peter Grant - cop, magical apprentice, and Londoner to the core - is being forced out of his comfort zone and into the English countryside. His latest case involves the disappearance of children in the small village of Herefordshire, and the local police are unwilling to admit there might be a supernatural element involved. Now Peter must deal with them, local river spirits, and the fact that all the shops close by 4 P.M.

Peter goes Rural...
Peter is shown doing more PC work in this book. Local PC Dominic was a an excllent foil and I enjoyed his sense of humour. Beverley seemed to be was mostly on hand to show her rural knowledge from her time as the hostage exchange living with Father Thames and his family, but the rescue was extremely pleasing.
There are some plot points not covered in this book (was it ever fully explained why were the girls abducted?) and I missed the London architecture and Peter's pithy commentary on urban landscape, plus this novel is lacking the usual Folly characters. But after a break of a few months I found this a much more enjoyable listen (Definitely at least a 4.5 star book).
As ever, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is an incredible narrator.
