About this listen

Captivating and action-packed, From Blood and Ash is a sexy, addictive, and unexpected fantasy perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Laura Thalassa.

A Maiden...

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

A Duty...

The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.

A Kingdom...

Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.

Fun listen, good narration

I liked this book, it was a fun listen for the most part and I did love the spice. It was a little repetitive, wish the story had just a little more to it. Didn’t change my enjoyment of the narration or the build-up. Not sure I will continue the series though as I didn’t love the change at the end of the book - felt hard to root for their relationship after that.

Overall great book. Slow burn romance and I can’t wait for more graphic audios in this series to be released

More romance scenes. They seemed quite far apart. There’s not much I would complain about.

Not so great.

Okay so FBAA is one of my all time favorite series. Love it. Listening to the dramatized version really was not great. There were some weird pronunciations of names and words that really irked me. It’s stupid I know but it was weird. She says “Masadon-a” and “Carcodon-a” instead of the proper “Masadon-ia” and Carcodon-ia” and “br-ee-ches” (I know it’s the same type of pants but it’s still got the same pronunciation) instead of “britches” and the most annoying mispronunciation was “Del-ain-o” instead of “Delano”. Took me a minute to realize who she was talking about when the names were so wrong.

All in all.. I did enjoy the story. The acting was good. It really is like a movie in your head. As long as you didn’t listen to the original audiobook, all is good.

But I recommend the original over this unfortunately. Don’t waste your credits.
