Publisher's Summary

Psychologist Kai Ferguson has had his eye on Kori Williamson for a long time. His assistant is everything he’s ever wanted in a partner—smart, caring, witty, and a bit of a masochist. More than a little, actually, but that’s the problem. Kori won’t admit her own desires. She’s afraid of him and what he has to offer. Luckily for her, helping patients face their fears is one of his specialties.

Kori knows she wants Kai. Her boss is the most amazing man she’s ever met. She’s also smart enough to stay away from him. Having been down this road before, she knows it only leads to heartache. She’s just found a place where she can belong. Another failed relationship is the last thing she needs. It’s better to guard her heart and let Kai think she’s frightened of his dark, dominant nature.

When Kai is recruited for an operation with McKay-Taggart, everything is turned upside down. Kai’s brother, international superstar Jared Johns, is in town and Kai must juggle his family issues along with a desperate hunt for a serial killer. The investigation throws Kori and Kai together, and they quickly discover the chemistry between them is undeniable. But even if their newfound love can survive his secrets and her lies, it may not be enough to save them both from a killer’s twisted obsession.

Our heroes and a man whose thoughts aim darts...

Kai is a professional psychologist who likes to counsel PTSD war vets but only wants to charge what they can afford. In order to be able to afford that, he is given certain bits of assistance from the corporation run by Ian Taggart. In order to help Taggart get assistance from an Interpol type organization, Kai agrees to allow his estranged younger brother, Jared, to follow Kai around in his personal life (for the sake of Jared's tv personality), a personal life where Kai is most definitely a Dom who likes to inflict a little pain as a prelude to sex.

Kori was a screenwriter whose last "Dom" (boyfriend,) stole her work and sold it as his own. With a little help, she reinvented herself as Kai's office manager and has worked for Kai for the last five years. Because Kai's brother is an actor, Jared recognizes Kori from her previous life. With a little encouragement from those around them, Kai begins to realize that he has feelings for Kori.

Screwed up beginnings, misunderstandings, and a killer stalking Sanctum, (Ian Taggart's club,) mean that the truth needs to be flushed out, and Kai and Kori are in the right place, at the right time, to do it.

Will Kori and Kai live long enough to confirm that they have a future together? Will Kai realize that his past with his brother is not as black and white as he once believed?

A serial killer stalking Sanctum? Say it isn't so!

I read this book when it first came out and fell in love with the characters and the written word (a lot of the of the M & T characters make an appearance). However, Ryan West brings another dimension to the book. His intonations bring out phrases and words that just struck me as hilarious. So even though there is a killer stalking Sanctum, there is also a funny side to this book. I loved Kori's smack down with Lena (especially bringing in a bow to the Real Housewives of New Jersey). The pacing of the book is great and never dull. Do yourself a favor and don't miss the velvet smoothness that is a Ryan West narration.

Not overly exciting...

a bit boring... Kori's a bit slow and boring for my taste... Kai's a bit dense for a shrink who couldn't figure things out fast enough. Loved his brother Jared. Too bad there's no book about him.

Looking for a serial killer... they narrowed the suspects... and still went out and had a good time... wow!

Performance was perfect. Thank you.

I've moved on to the next book.

W@W

Impossibly, each story gets better and pulls you in deeper. One of the best series that I have ever experienced. Hands down Lexie Blake is one of my top 5. Same goes for the uber talented narrator Ryan West.

Kai Did Not Seem As Hardcore as Portrayed

I listened to Kai and Kori's story and once again I thought the narration was pretty good. The narrator slipped into his Dom voice once or twice when I wasn't expecting it, but that did not take away from the overall performance.

I don't feel like enough time was devoted to Kai and Kori's relationship. It seemed like more effort was devoted to Erin, Jarod's situation, Jarod and Kai's past, Mia and Case's attraction, and the search for Theo, then it was to Kori and Kai developing their relationship.

I had great hope at the beginning. My hope faded away to meh. Kai was supposed to be so tough, as a Dom and a sadist. I didn't get the impression of toughness from him at all. Ian Taggert, even when he is caving to Charlene, is still tougher than most of the team. I also expected more scenes with Kori at Sanctum, especially since he was supposed to be showing his brother how to be a Dom.

I was highly disappointed after everything jumped off as the result of finding out the killer's identity, that the resolution to Kai and Kori's problem was never told to the reader. The book skipped to SIX months later. Unbelievable!

In spite of all of that, I did like Kai. I liked Jared. I liked Sarah, and Erin. Case was frustrating. I can always count on Ian for a laugh.

I was glad Kai felt like he did when he heard Jared's story. I liked Kori at the beginning, but not so much when the self doubt started to kick in. The thing that is so majorly frustrating about the characters, is they NEVER talk to each other or ask questions. They are good at overhearing, and making assumptions without all of the facts.t

I would give this book 3 stars, maybe 3.5 because I enjoyed the narration. The storyline was not bad. It did feel like it wasn't fully carried out to its logical conclusion, and I'm not talking about the ongoing Case and Mia story, or the search for Theo story. There also wasn't as much action as in previous books.

I will be continuing, if only to find out about Theo. I'm not sure I care about Cass and Mia.

Favorite M &M book!

I say that after every book but this time I thought it about chapter 5. I laughed out loud, cried, yelled & gushed over these characters & dialog. All. The. Feels. I never thought I'd be this excited about a sadist but I love Kai & Kori!! ❤️❤️

Loved it!

Just another book in the series to love. Kai's story was pretty awesome. I can't wait to see if his brother gets a story.

Love Sadistic play!

I really liked this book because Blake finally pushed the edges of bdsm. Everything else has been sorta vanilla. I have to say the betrayed/used aspect of every story is getting kinda old. And felt very forced in this book. I think this was more of a "fluffer" book. Bairly kept the storyline going with no big twists on the main plot. The biggest redeeming quality was the very hot sex scenes.

Another great, sexy adventure !

Just like with all the other books, in this series, I finished it with a satisfied sigh. What is there not to love? The characters are all awesome, the storyline was packed full of mystery and adventure, there was lots of sexy D/s play and Ryan West’s narration was flawless. Not to mention, Big Tag and the rest of the crew, always provide ridiculous, over the top Alpha male stupid statements, to laugh about. There was also a sweet love story between two damaged souls.

This series has always been credit worthy but, with an unexpected bonus, many books in this series are offered as part of the Romance package. What’s not to love? Hit Download now!
