For Dusti Dawson, it's just the beginning...Dusti and her sister Batina survived the crash, thanks to a couple of brothers who are equal parts menacing and muscled. I love it
Fair warning a talk about some dark elements Trigger warning sexual assault. I actually love this story I think it's really fun and adorable and dark and playful it is a romance is a romance and like a happily ever after kind of romance romance just grounded reality so it talks about darker things yet girthangs at times and the premise is about people who are held by an evil corporation So it's natural that there'd be discussions of the abuse amidst treatment those people would experience in that situation.

Loved it! I'm a Fury Fan!!!
Calling all paranormal romance lovers!!! This is a great new series featuring a brand new type of 'paranormal'. New Species are humans spliced with animals...could be cat, dog, who knows, but whatever the species, it made for a really good listen. There were some moments where the story dragged or was a little redundant--literally over-focusing on certain points way too long but once it got back on track and moved forward, things progressed well. The characters were sexy, fierce, and funny as they found their way to love and navigated their new environment amidst dire circumstances, such as trying to have uninterrupted sex! Trust me, that's one of the funniest, and somewhat frustrating points of the whole book, but it doesn't take away from the fact that I loved it!
The narrator is a new one for me, and she was good, she has a great voice although there were times where it seemed like the narration was very very slow...perhaps this was deliberate but given what she was saying and the context of the story it seemed like she was trying to add drama where it wasn't really necessary. All of the less than positive aspects of this book pale in comparison to the positive attributes so, I'm already going to purchase and download the other books, as I am now a FURY fan and New Species obsessed!

Get an editor....
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
medium - The story is too similar to Lora Leigh Breeds series. The book could have been improved with a bit of editing. The author never used adverbs properly and spoke in the passive voice too often. I wanted to get out my red pen,
Would you recommend Fury to your friends? Why or why not?
I like a bit of sex, but really? The obvious allusion to bestiality got a bit repetitive, and the author used sex to link together every scene. The heroine was too submissive and had no real role in the story. Too bad cause her relationship with the female dorm could have been a stronger part of the story.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
the narrator was amateur. She paused at the end of each line instead of the end of each sentence like a school kid readying poetry. Her inflections were too breathy on every sentence. She left all the consonants out of every contraction i.e. coont instead of couldn't. I almost gave up over this.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
A little variation on the plot - Fury is angry, Fury wunt hurt me, fury is angry again, Fury wunt hurt me...
Any additional comments?
Just good enough to make me want to find out what happens with the other characters so I will give the next book a try. But that's it if it doesn't get better...

5 Fury Stars
I first read this book in 2013; I have read it since one more time. And I had started a few books that just didn't hold my interest. Not because they were bad but my mind is just so on Christmas stuff.
So I thought what book can I just zone out while doing all my Christmas errands and this was the book I choose. I forgot how much I love Fury, he is so big and strong and protective <3
Ellie is so good and sweet and wants to be good and do good. I love this world Laurann created. Homeland is like a magical place to me. Where the rescued can be free and be themselves who would want that for the New Species?
When I first read about this series I thought hmm maybe not for me, but then I thought give it a try you just never know and I am so very glad I did. It’s one of my most favorite series to date
Vanessa Chambers does a fabulous job narrating this unique series, she bring each character to life with their own voice. I am so glad she does the whole series!
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Please unleash Fury upon me !!
Any additional comments?
I actually started reading Laurann Dohner "Species" series as I loved Lora Leigh's "Breeds" novels and this series is quite like them. This book has all your needs catered for in a good Shifter novel. Loads of Hot and Horny sex to got round for all ears to enjoy. plus a great story line. I loved it and Ali Ahn's narration was awesome !!
Fury and Ellie have a rough start to say the least. Elle is working at the pharmaceutical company when she discovers the scientists there have taken human and animal DNA, creating exotic new species. One of those new species happens to be Fury. Once she learns what's going on she goes undercover to try and save them, even doing some unthinkable things to Fury to not get caught,,,,,,,,,,

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫
I listened to this book about 6 years ago and decided it's time to finish the series. I love the world created in this book. It's not normal for an author to mix so much human life with their paranormal stories and I love that. It was fun listening while all these New Species people learn the human way of things. This was also a very sexy story with lots and lots of sex. I love a "one true mate" story line too, it just always works for me. On to book 2 now!
The narration was really good for a single narrated series. I think it would have been great for a dual narration too but since it wasn't, this narrator did a great job!

FROM START TO FINISH IT POSSESSED ME
I'm new to this series and, as it's all been said, rated and reviewed before - all I can add is that I loved loved loved this listen sooo much that I've just downloaded the other 6 books available in the series and Pre-ordered 2 more - enough said.
Worth a credit? Errr I've just happily used 9 credits and I'm eager to start listening to books 2 to 7 so sorry but I will be suffering from a 'mystery' very contagious virus, all my phones will be off due to an unexplainable fault and sadly, there's going to be a lot of microwave and take-out meals consumed by my family for the foreseeable future.....and so I think that answers the question.

Loved this book!! So excited for this series
"Communication breakdown" is an understatement when it comes to new species.
Created in a lab using animal DNA, New Species were "treated as though they were guinea pigs, tools, and nothing more" in the name of science. It is hard to trust or love when you have only known pain and hate.
Ellie Brower only knew the test subject as 416, but she was drawn to him. She agrees to go undercover as a spy to gather evidence of Mercile Industries illegal drug research, in hopes of freeing all the test subjects, but especially 416. A strong character, she is determined to do anything to save the New Species, even die. She is one person you can't help but admire and applaud for throughout the story.
416, also known as Fury, can never forget Ellie but he feels betrayed and wants revenge when he comes face to face with her at the New Species Homeland compound, even though there is something inside him that does not want to see her hurt. Communication breakdown can cause a lot of problems and misunderstanding. Watching the plot play out, I found I wanted to scream a few times because of others sticking their noses into the middle of Fury and Ellie's business. However, I must say it made for an exciting and a sweet love story even if I felt the need to pull my hair out because of all the interference.
I loved the plot; it was unique and easy to imagine with today's technology in DNA testing, in which something like this could really happen. It was enthralling in that animalistic kind of way, with some hot sex scenes and a lot of heart melting bonding between two people. Most definitely a delicious testosterone filled book that is worth reading.
Vanessa Chambers was wonderful with the delivery of the story

Great Story & Action, Repetitious Sex Scenes
I love the way Laurann Dohner writes action scenes. She does an amazing job. She also does a great job of world building, and of building tension in her world. The new species characters are a mix of intelligence and naivete that really pulls you into their story. (4/ 5 stars).
I really enjoyed the world of her series, so much so that I kept reading long after certain aspects had me less than turned on.
I've read five of the books so far, with a growing sense of disappointment as the sex scenes became increasingly repetitious. The situations are unique, but the descriptors used again and again drove me nuts. All the human females are "tiny" and "fragile" (no tall girls?) With the exception of their jobs, hair/eye color, etc., they are the same woman over and over again. There needs to be more variety.
Because the men are bigger (everywhere), we are treated to the same routine and exactly the same words to describe each encounter, every time with very little variation. The men are afraid they will hurt the human females and the females have to assure them over and over that they are "tough" and "can take it." This becomes really annoying as there are several mixed race couples on the scene by the fifth book. It should be obvious to everyone that the human women can in fact "take it."
Once they have sex with a human female, the men are crippled by their need to possess them. We hear about their smell and soft skin and the overwhelming need to protect. Mostly though, the men become cave men who need to control the women by growling at them and fighting any male who touches them. The word "mine" is used after the first sexual encounter, sometimes even before that, and the women pretty much become their possessions and are unable to exercise any freedom. These are strong independent women with careers, who fold like a broken beach chair after a weak attempt to assert themselves. But then, why would they want to with such strong sexy males to control them?
And during sex, the women are all afraid to have sex with the males because the males are huge. Consequently, the males are all very careful, and by the end of the scene, the women all note that the "pain becomes pleasure" as the large member engages "all of the nerve endings" in their vaginas. Later, when the males finally let go and "get it on" with the women, they are instantly wracked with guilt about hurting the female, and she has to reassure them again that she liked it. Really? There is no variation of this routine. And it is eye rollingly painful to listen to by the 4th book. (1 star).
The sex scenes, rather than adding to the romance of the story, actually began to detract as the buzz words became almost laughable. What a shame.
And for me, there was the "dog" ick factor. I really did not need to learn how sex works for dogs. Really, I didn't. The cat new species are created from lions and panthers -- which was cool. But the dogs? Couldn't they have been wolves or bears or something -- anything other than Fido? That was really not sexy. At all. (0 stars).
I would have to be very bored indeed to purchase another book in the series, even though I REALLY enjoyed the overall stories and the action of each book I've read so far. I'm bummed that Ms. Dohner can't find a way to make the sex scenes as original as the rest of the book. Really bummed.
The reader, Vanessa Chambers, was fantastic. I'll be looking for more books read by her. (5 stars!)

New Series for a New Species
New Species, sounds like a really bad movie on the Syfy channel but it's actually a decent book. It's contains just enough action to keep the listener interested without it dragging out the story. Yes, it does contain a lot of sex scenes but if you know anything about Ellora's Cave books, this shouldn't be a surprise. Fury is a new species male that has been held in captative since birth. He is a male that had his genes spliced ,along with countless other males and females, with that of an animal to make him and his kind into something other. They were tortured for decades until Ellie, the heroine, risk everything to smuggle medical document out of the secret facility to the authorities. Now free, the New Species Order or NSO are trying to find their freedom in a world that has conflicting issues about their presence. Of course you have those anti groups that are determined to give them hell every step of the way, not to mention the emotional turmoil every NSO faces now that they are free.
Fury is just that fury. He is vengeance, patience, possessive, dominant and mmm he growls. I love it when they growl. Although at times in the book, I wished Ellie would grow a spine, she isn't completely pathetic throughout the entire book. She defends the New Species with everything she has in her. She just doesn't have an opinion about her own self worth, frustrating.
The narrator was decent. I have heard better and I have heard worse. I like her voice she used for Fury but the voices for the other males lacked that depth.
Would I recommend this book, yes. But be warned, LOTS AND LOTS OF SEX. HOT STEAMY PASSIONATE SEX. You have been warned.
