Publisher's Summary

Are you tired of just paying bills until you die? Are you wasting your life at a job that doesn't make you fulfilled or financially secure? Then Future Proofing You is for you.

In this life-changing book, celebrated author and entrepreneur Jay Samit, who's worked with such visionaries as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Reid Hoffman, and hundreds of successful entrepreneurs, shares the key understandings and step-by-step process for becoming rich and never needing another job again. To prove the power of his Twelve Truths, Samit also details the journey of how he mentored a broke millennial with these principles and empowered him to go from being on welfare to becoming a self-made millionaire in one year.

Building upon the principles in his internationally acclaimed book Disrupt You!, Samit explains: how to identify an idea and market to start your business; how to build a virtual company with little or no capital; the latest free software tools for managing your business; ways to get a piece of a trillion-dollar opportunity bigger than mobile; how to harness the three primary fears of others to generate more sales; strategies for finding the right mentors to accelerate your success; and techniques to structure any deal for creating recurring revenue and lasting wealth.

Great follow-up

Excellent follow-up to his first book, "Disrupt You."

"Future Proofing You" is a book by a serial entrepreneur that contains massive value for its readers. Jay puts his reputation on the line and mentors a young entrepreneur to help create a million-dollar business in twelve months.

A few favorite notes below:

"There are 16.5 million millionaires. And a new billionaire is created every 48 hours."

"Self-perception is a more important factor in identifying a person's success than anything else."

Security doesn't exist for employees. The average position longevity at Amazon, Facebook and Google are three years.

Wealth comes from creating money, not earning and saving. This is how Amazon, which barely turned a profit each quarter during its first twenty years, has generated so much wealth.

Every chance you can, bet on yourself and tie your compensation to your performance.

Best book I’ve purchased in years

I buy a lot of books on topics of self help, self improvement, finding purpose, etc. I heard Jay’s interview on the impact theory podcast and immediately bought the book. Jay takes business concepts/entrepreneurship and makes it less complicated to a lay person like me. The metaphors and they way he breaks things down make it so easy to understand. This book has the most usable information and actionable steps I’ve found in any book I’ve bought. Invaluable information!

Without action...

This book is just words on pages taking up space on your shelf. Truth is, we weren’t born just to pay bills. Yet, the majority of generations were taught to get an education, a good job, then retire. Which leads to two things- getting old, then death.

When there can be so much more to life. And I feel like in Future Proofing You, Jay offers up a solid example of how to do it.

Besides the author’s name, there isn’t much here

The content was really disappointing, and seemed like they needed a hook to power through but never delivered anything. Nothing cohesive, just a bunch of ideas thrown together.

a MUST read for every entrepreneur

Jay shares his vast knowledge and experience in the book with lots of examples and lessons.

They are all covered succinctly and without fluff.

I had to pause and write down notes multiple times because listening to just one chapter gives you incredible insights.

Highly highly recommend it

C- Ore overall

It's a collection of anecdotal content with rehash of known reference stories from bygone eras as motivation for success. The main interest was the fallible premise wherein his protege already had hundreds of hours of self taught skill in questionable hacks for internet marketing.
the 1st half of book embraces using FEAR as a marketing tool trying to make it seem okay to mislead people but being honest later.
also the vast majority of referred stories are usually men and typically are very dated by the time that the initial story took off. This isn't to dissuade entirely but it's nothing really new that didn't actually tell you anything that you likely read from anyone else other than references to current and dated cultural references of movies and similar.
