À propos de cet audio
Contains Galactic Law and Galactic Judge, books one and two of the Galactic Law series.
Lethal force is authorized.
In the wild space of the Deadlands, Taurus Station is where miners and tourists come to play, and the ravager gangs follow close behind. Out here, far from the civilized world, the Law has a name.
Gage Walker is the son of hard-nosed asteroid miners. Brash, rough, and crude, he's one of the few deputies working the station.
Still a rookie, Walker is tasked with the security of a mining magnate's daughter, an easy job that quickly takes a turn for the worst.
The ravager gangs want her, and it falls to Walker to find out why.
In a chase across Taurus Station, Deputy Walker must prove he's fit to wear the badge and issue his own form of justice...one body at a time.
Experience this exciting beginning to a brand new series set in the Renegade Star universe. If you're a fan of Judge Dredd, Renegade Star, or Borderlands, you'll love this epic sci-fi thriller.
©2020 JN Chaney and James S. Aaron (P)2020 Podium Audio• In Book One ('Galactic Law'), Walker embarks on his first assignment - still a trainee - protecting the daughter of an Oligarch named 'James Carthage' while "Raptors" (criminal gangs) intervene. The book starts thoughtful and character-driven and moves smoothly into action-action-action (albeit with a pretty silly/farcical climax - a booze-fuelled brawl at a wedding)
• 'Galactic Judge' (Book Two) finds newly-graduated Deputy Walker teaming up with a hilarious mercenary (sounding almost exactly like Mister Krabbs from 'SpongeBob Squarepants'). They ferry 'Kieran Carthage' [the heroine + love interest (?) from Book One] to a remote part of their Galactic Rim/fringe sector to battle a gangster cartel in a book that adds space battles to the futuristic action. The book made me wonder if Walker ever makes an arrest in this series or if he just keeps killing every criminal he's theoretically supposed to apprehend. There's a lot of shootouts in this book.
As to presentation: reader Tim Taylorson narrates the book with admirable skill. His diction, timbre, cadence, and tone are spot-on.. but it's his voice-acting that impressed me. True, his chosen voice for Walker's A.I. Law Enforcement DataBase - LEDB ('Ellie') is a bit whiny, but Podium Audio Inc. cast this project admirably.
In toto, I rate the 'Galactic Law: Publisher's Pack' 6.5/10-stars. It was a fortuitous find on the 'Plus' menu. It's a relatively unchallenging/unsophisticated book, but if you're in the mood for a mindless rollercoaster ride, it's worth a listen for free. If they ask for a Credit, however, there are better options available.
