About this listen

New York Admirals captain Scott Hunter takes his pregame rituals very seriously. In this case, it's not just a lucky smoothie he's craving - it's the man who made it.

Pro hockey star Scott Hunter knows a good thing when he sees it. So, when a smoothie made by juice bar barista Kip Grady precedes Scott breaking his on-ice slump, he's desperate to recreate the magic...and to get to know the sexy, funny guy behind the counter.

Kip knew there was more to Scott's frequent visits than blended fruit, but he never let himself imagine being invited back to Scott's penthouse. Or kissed with reckless abandon, never mind touched everywhere all at once. When it happens, it's red-hot, incredible, and frequent, but also only on Scott's terms and always behind his closed apartment doors.

Scott needs Kip in his life, but with playoff season approaching, the spotlight on him is suddenly brighter than ever. He can't afford to do anything that might derail his career...like introducing the world to his boyfriend. Kip is ready to go all-in with Scott - but how much longer will he have to remain a secret?

It was fine, the voices are theatrical and truly cringe worthy. Fun solid hockey mlm content

I almost quit because of the voices.

Story was good, but the narration was definitely hard to listen to. Kip’s parts were pretty unbearable.

Narration was rough

Amazing story and Narration by Tor Thom! The story had a nice flow, easy to follow. Can't wait to hear more!

Loved it!!

The writing may be perfectly fine. Unfortunately, this audiobook makes that impossible to determine. The narration is so catastrophically bad that it single-handedly destroys the entire listening experience. I finished it out of sheer determination, not because it was remotely enjoyable.

The narrator’s attempt at a Brooklyn accent for Kip is an absolute embarrassment. Instead of sounding authentic, it turns into a grating and bizarre blend of Boston, vaguely British, and obnoxious frat-boy energy. It is distracting, immersion-breaking, and so exaggerated that it overwhelms every scene it touches.

The performance itself is equally damaging. The delivery is cheesy, unnatural, and completely lacking emotional depth. Serious moments feel hollow, romantic scenes become uncomfortable, and any attempt at chemistry or steam is immediately undermined by the narrator’s cartoonish tone. Nothing sounds sincere or believable.

I cannot fairly judge this book because the narration actively sabotages it from beginning to end. Do not purchase this on Audible. If you are interested in the story at all, read it yourself. It is the only way this book stands a chance.

Narrative nightmare

This isn’t my usual fare, but I enjoyed it despite the OTT sex scenes. Even had tears in my eyes a couple times - it’s a sweet story. Unfortunately, the narration of Kip is distracting and makes him sound like a dolt rather than the bright young guy the author describes. I never could get over it, right to the end, it grated on me. Is it still worth it? Might be better as a read, if you switch it up; otherwise, hopefully the voicing of Kip doesn’t bother you as much as it did me.

Surprisingly Touching / Disappointing Narration
