I have many conflicting feelings about this book. I'm trying to decide whether I would have felt differently if I read it when it came out. Probably. If you're not up for weird, this book is not for you. The writing is beautifully rich and metaphorical (is there such a thing as too metaphorical?). The themes are numerous, uncomfortable and complex. The topics are disturbing at times but always thought provoking. What is very clear is the performance: exquisite. High praise for the narrator!

There is no downside to this book; I just wish it was longer. Not a single word is wasted!
The story becomes more gruesome and disturbing as the book gets on so it tempers you. It’s incredible and included in the membership. Just listen already!!!!

I disappeared in this world, the characters are so sweet and horrible, the story is just there so you can get to know them . What a talented writer.

I’ve listened to this audiobook over and over. I love it so much. This story is so demented and beautiful, and the characters have stuck with me for years after my first read. Moore’s performance is electric, she simply IS Oly to me. Heartbreaking and tender and weird as hell. I’m so glad it exists. Dunn’s writing is phenomenal.
