Publisher's Summary

Hiro

Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death...the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense. Still, the more I’m around Maddox, the more I realize that beneath that surly exterior is a kind and caring man who will do anything to help.

Maddox

When another man dies, I know we have a serial killer on our hands - the same murderer who has remained elusive for a year and a half. To add to my frustration, I keep running into Hiro at crime scenes, only to hear him claim that he can talk to ghosts. The words of the dead could lead us to the serial killer and even tell us who is next, but ghosts? There’s no such thing as ghosts. Hiro is determined and charming, and no matter what I do, I can’t stop letting him get involved. He's definitely snagged my attention, but when he nearly winds up dead, I know he's getting closer to the truth - and if I don’t do something soon, he might be next.

Ghost of Lies is full of action, mystery, humor, and romance. Though more is planned for this couple, the mystery is solved and there is a happy ending.

Fantastic Listen!

Excellent beginning to a new series. Ghost whisperer meets stoic grumbly detective and mayhem ensues.
Hiro sees ghosts. Not only sees them but talks to them and if they are close enough can give them energy to become semi-sold if only briefly. Enter Maddox, unbeliever and hardened homicide detective who slowly learns that there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in his philosophy. lol With the help of various ghosts Hiro tries to find the serial killer who murdered his brother. Not only does Hiro prove his abilities, this kind and caring man slides under Maddox's skin and slowly into Maddox's heart. The relationship is a slow build and secondary to a great storyline. Real medium's don't work this way but the author's take on it is fun and entertaining.
Greg Boudreaux is one of the best narrators in the business and he lives up to his reputation with this audiobook. There is no misunderstanding who is speaking, the voices fit the characters and the passion and emotion he imbues the story with are spot on!
Looking forward to the next installment.

So good.

I am a big Alice Winters fan now. This is my second book by this author, and I find the humor and banter between characters is awesome, and the story is captivating to the end. I expect to be picking up all I can from this author! Greg Boudreaux is one of my all-time favorite narrator, and he is unsurprisingly fantastic in this one as well.

Great read!

Love the humour, story, and great banter between the main characters! Again, Alice Winters does not disappoint (I'm really becoming a fan). Laugh out loud moments throughout and a few can't-help-the-tears elements. Great narration too! Highly recommend!

Entertaining

The narrator really did a good job on speaking for the characters. The story was very amusing and funny! Out of all my book experiences thus far, this one is one of the best.

Very fun! Crude humor, great story.

If you're not a fan of crude humor this book is not for you.... but if you are, oh boy! This book is chock-full of d*ck jokes, threesome jokes, face sitting jokes. basically any kind of s"x joke you can think of. Some are a little repetitive so maybe that's a down side? I don't care though.

The main story is very solid even when the book has its spicy moments. I'm a straight female so I was a little worried it might not be in my taste but the steamy moments were well done and NOT the driving force of the story, they're just a nice little sprinkle on top.

characters are well written and have some depth. The reader did an amazing job making the two view points distinct and consistently had the voices match both the character and the energy of the scene.
