Publisher's Summary

A monster is holding me hostage inside a chateau.

The world is plagued by creatures called the Dread.

And he’s their king.

I’ve tried to run. I’ve tried to hide. But there’s no escaping him.

He wants to turn me into one of the creatures.

Unless...I find a way to break the curse.

A curse that has turned him into the monster that he is.

He wasn’t supposed to destroy cities. He’s one of the Celestials meant to save humanity.

As I uncover the truth and break his curse, I wonder if I’ve lost myself in the process.

Can I still escape him?

Or has he taken my heart forever?

Swept Me Off My Feet

This book was recommended by a friend, so I went in completely blind. And I am so glad to have indulged! This is a fun, romantic take on Beauty and the Beast, and I fell in love with the characters and the world. This has to be one of my favourite retellings, no question!

The story follows the formula of Beauty and the Beast, but diverts from the lore to offer unique creatures, adversaries, and intense romance.

Amicia is easy to relate to as she is a peasant, and after meeting the ruthless King of the Dread, her entire world is flipped upside down. I loved her spunk and fire as much as I loved Alexandre’s growth. He is definitely worth swooning over (once you get to know him).

Hamm has a stunning writing style that totally captures the romance of the story. The Alchemists terrify me and I want to see more of them. I honestly have few complaints about this story, and am not going to bother pointing them out because I just enjoyed it so much. The little quirks that made it fun, the dialogue, the romance. All of it bundled into a must have book for anyone who loves Beauty and the Beast, dark fantasy, and epic romance.

One of those storeys that blows you away.

Excellent book. An excellent and creative story twining around a rough version of Beauty and the Beast. A must read that you won't be able to put down voiced by an wonderful narrator who makes it sound like a fairytale whispered in the dark! Very well worth a credit 👌

A truly amazing dark gothic redemption story!

There is literally nothing i can not like about this book.
The nerration first of all is BEAUTIFUL and sucks you in immediately. The use of French words and endearments really helps sell this as well. As for our Female Lead? She is no Disney Princess thats for sure. She gets put through the RINGER by losing literally everything, like her entire city gets burned rather then be taken by the Dread and as far as she knows there is also no other towns or cities left either! She has nowhere to go, is in grief for everybody she ever cared about and is starving which is how he ends up at the beasts chateaux. And one of my favourite parts? THERE IS MORE THEN ONE BEAST, there is in fact an army of them and super sketchy alchemists. In fact he literally turns one of her town people into a gargoyle/demon n front of her eyes. So ya, this is quite a bit darker then the pretty princess version and the happily ever after is PAID FOR.
