Publisher's Summary
From best-selling author Danielle L. Jensen comes a thrilling new novel in the Dark Shores world, a series that Sarah J. Maas called "everything I look for in a fantasy novel".
Their battles ended in victory....
Lydia returns to Mudaire to enter training at the healing temple. But instead of fighting to save lives, she’s convinced she is doing more harm than good. She delves into the history of the gods only to discover a truth that will change her life forever.
His birthright as commander of the Royal Army is finally in his grasp, but Killian feels anything but victorious. Burdened by his past, he embraces the darker side of his mark - and in doing so, risks starting a war.
But the war has only just begun....
Having defeated the tyrant Urcon, Marcus struggles to form a lasting alliance with the Arinoquians. But he is plagued by the knowledge that there is a traitor among his friends, and it could cost him everything that he’s fought for.
Torn between her growing allegiance to the 37th legion and her need to liberate her people, Teriana finds herself mired in a web of secrets. She embarks upon a path that will either save everyone she loves - or put them all in their graves.
Listeners may listen to either Dark Shores or Dark Skies first!

Fantastic story!
A story filled with exciting action, difficult moral choices and characters I really cared about.
Despite the fact that I am definitely not in the “teen and young adult” age group, I have enjoyed the series immensely. Thanks to having to manufacture reasons to listen to the audio books, I have accomplished many mindless tasks.
So sad that I have to wait months for the final book!

This book is told from multiple POVs, but it's very easy to keep up with the storyline. Danielle does a wonderful job maintaining and creating characters within this intricate world of political games.

complex storytelling and fascinating world building
Great story...one of the best epic fantasies I've read in a long time. Unique historical details that placed us in a different world. Characters who are distinctive and I particularly enjoyed the first two books focusing on two separate pairs; then pulling the stories together in the third book.
Unfortunately, the narration was distracting. The narrators have raw talent, but the speech, diction and pacing were muddy and inconsistent. And some of the character choices were unrealistic and took me out of the stories. Often had to rewind to get what they were saying. I felt like the narrators were young in their careers.
Multiple narrators is also distracting. The focus is the story and a seasoned single narrator lends the story clarity and focus on the unfolding plot points, recurring themes and character arc instead of manufacturing new voices for subsidiary characters.

Tedious series
Sooooo much of the plot relies on too many slightly reveild secrets. Its annoying! Had a hard time getting this far in the series. I found my self just wanting the story to get on with it. Seems like a lazy way to keep people interested in the plot. Overall it's a fun concept though.

Another fantastic read from Danielle Jensen
I loved this book. It kept me on my toes the whole time. I thought DLJ did a great job intertwining the stories of the four main characters.
The issue I have with this audible production is from one of the narrators. I feel that on Killians chapters read by Devante, it was very difficult to hear the different characters. They all just became muddled. He does not really have the voice of a 20ish year old man, but definitely older. His voice was soothing but lack of inflection made me “zone out” during his chapters.
Overall fantastic book!
