Story
An Atlanta ex-cop comes to Lake Sackett, Georgia, seeking peace and quiet - but he hasn’t bargained on falling for Frankie, the cutest coroner he’s ever met. Frankie McCready talks to dead people. Not like a ghost whisperer or anything - but it seems rude to embalm them and not say hello. Fortunately, at the McCready Family Funeral Home & Bait Shop, Frankie’s eccentricities fit right in. Lake Sackett’s embalmer and county coroner, Frankie’s goth styling and passion for nerd culture mean she’s not your typical Southern girl, but the McCreadys are hardly your typical Southern family.

Story
Molly Harper brings her signature "clever humor, snark, silliness, and endearing protagonists" ( Booklist) to the charming small town of Lake Sackett, Georgia with the new Southern Eclectic series. Carl and Marianne were high school sweethearts, loving the way only teenagers can - with no thought to logic or pride, just a bone-headed, optimistic frenzy of unicorns and hormones. That was all they needed. Or so Carl thought. Scared of being stuck in Lake Sackett, Georgia, like so many of her friends, Marianne panicked and bolted....

Story
It’s true. I’m not what most people would call “pretty” and, well, high school was rough. Fast forward ten years and life is good, until a bunch of jerks think it’s hilarious to put the “butterface” (AKA me) on a wedding Kiss Cam with the hottest guy ever - and that old humiliation hits hard. I recognize him immediately. The hottest cop in Waterbury and totally out of my league. But then he kisses me. And we totally forget the room, the crowd, everything. Then he tells everyone we’ve been dating for months.

Margot Cary has spent her life immersed in everything Lake Sackett is not. As an elite event planner, Margot's rubbed elbows with the cream of Chicago society and made elegance and glamour her business. She's riding high until one event goes tragically, spectacularly wrong. Publisher's Summary
Lucy Bowman would never have guessed that her best friend, Duffy McCready (of McCready’s Bait Shop & Funeral Home) has been in love with her since they were kids. Fear of rejection and his own romantic complications prevented Duffy from confessing his true feelings in high school, so he stood by and watched her wed Wayne Garten right after high school. Wayne had always been a cheapskate, so it comes as no surprise when he suffers a fatal accident while fixing his own truck.
Even as her family and friends invade Lucy’s life and insist that the new widow is too fragile to do much beyond weeping, Lucy is ashamed to admit that life without Wayne is easier, less complicated. After all, no one knew what a relentless, soul-grinding trudge marriage to Wayne had been. Only Duffy can tell she’s hiding something.
In need of a fresh start, Lucy asks Duffy to put his cabinet-building skills to use, transforming the town's meat shop into a bake shop. As the bakery takes shape, Lucy and Duffy discover the spark that pulled them together so many years ago. Could this finally be the second chance he’s always hoped for?
Once again Molly Harper “writes characters you can’t help but fall in love with” (RT Book Reviews) in this charming and entertaining love story.

Funny life after bad marriage
Lucy Bowman widowed and returns home to raise her child. Back to the simpler ways of life without traffic, and hopefully she can open up her own bakery. She bumps into her childhood BFF Duffy McCready would be single and still pining for her years later.
This story is about nosy neighbors, harassing family members, and classic country values that make you laugh and pull your hair.
Amanda Ronconi does a fantastic job of articulating all the characters personalities in this hilarious story.

Loved the laughs.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book.
Molly Harper does a great job incorporating love, laughs, anger and general quirkiness in her writing. I often found myself laughing out loud (got some interesting looks while walking around the grocery store pushing a cart).
Amanda Ronconi is an awesome narrator. Her portrayal of the characters makes them real for the listener.

MOLLY IS BACK!!!
I LOVED this book. It's Molly Harper at her best -not taking the easy (obvious/typical/oft-used by others) plot progressions, giving us a heroine that has common sense, and having a really satisfying group of people and backstory. I laughed, and I loved that people grew (not just the main characters) during the story.
Those who love "And One Last Thing..." will enjoy this one.
Well done, Molly!

Assertive adult characters for the win
I love all of Molly Harper’s books, and this one is no exception. What I love most about this book is that the heroine is assertive, confident, and smart while also being relatably human. It is so refreshing to see a character actually say what she is thinking rather than the whole book being based on the silly and immature miscommunications that many romance novels employ as the challenges between the hero and heroine. The hero is also refreshing in his ability to talk about his feelings and not be some sort of emotionally stunted man-child. Finally, Gimme Some Sugar takes on the complications of second chance romance and complicated family dynamics in a humorous, warm, and realistic way that I really enjoyed. Highly recommend!

What's with the f***ing f-bombs?
I love Molly Harper's books paired with Amanda Ronconi's narration. But there seems to be more f-bombs in this book than previous books. I'm not a prude, but I enjoy books and stories without them. I hope it does not become a regular addition in future titles.

I had a hard time liking this heroine.
I love Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi, but I had a really hard time liking this heroine. She was just so prickly and standoffish and I thought she was overreacting to much of what she was being prickly with (part of that was because the reasons for her standing back from some people weren't given until too far in the book so it seemed like overreaction). I listened a second time and felt the same way. Not one of my favorites from Molly Harper. Still looking forward to more from her, though.

Duffy's story!!!
NUMBER OF HEARTS: 5
Lucy has moves to her hometown to grieve the lost of her husband and to raise her son in a familiar place and to pursue her dream of opening a bakery. But like any good small town Lucy will have to learn to deal with the gossip and a nosey and bossy mother in law.
Duffy McCready has always loved Lucy. She was his best friend growing up. But time, distance and both of them marrying the wrong people put a kink in their friendship. But now that Lucy is back Duffy will not let anyone or anything wreck their friendship again. Well except maybe himself.
As always I had the talented Amanda Ronconi read this story to me. I truly love having Amanda narrator Molly’s books. She is able to bring these characters to life for me. So much so that when I read any of Molly’s books I can hear Amanda’s voices in my head. I
YAY!!!! Duffy McCready finally got his own book!! I am so glad that Duffy finally got his book. I adore his lady love, Lucy! Lucy is a spit fire that give Duffy a run for his money.
I really enjoyed this last book of the Southern Eclectic series. It has been a fun ride learning about the McCready family. I can’t wait for the next book written by Molly and narrated by Amanda.
