Publisher's Summary

“My life was a complete mess, and God bless all of it. Because it’s in the messes where we learn the most - as long as we slow down enough to realize what God is trying to show us.”

Suddenly in the spotlight, 24-year-old Hannah Brown realized that she wasn’t sure what she wanted. After years of competing in beauty pageants, and then starring on The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, she had become incredibly visible. There she was, in her early 20s, with millions around the world examining and weighing in on her every decision. She found herself wondering what it would mean to live on her terms. What it would mean to stop seeking approval from others and decide - for the first time - what it was she wanted from her own life.

An honest and earnest examination of her own mid-20s, God Bless This Mess is a memoir that doesn’t claim to have all the answers. Hannah knows she doesn’t have all the answers. What she does have is the insight of someone who has spent critical years of her youth under public scrutiny. Thus what emerges is a quarter-life memoir that speaks to the set of difficulties young women face, and how to move through them with grace. By pushing against her engrained need to seek approval, and learning how to think critically about her own goals and desires, Hannah inspires others to do the same - and to embrace the messiness that comes hand-in-hand with self-discovery (even it that sometimes means falling flat on your face).

Using her time on The Bachelorette as a launching pad, Hannah doesn’t shy away from the most painful experiences of her life: moments when her faith was tested, when she feared it was lost, and the moments when she reclaimed it on national television. “And Jesus still loves me.” Fans will be inspired by the never-before-told stories: the ones about facing depression and anxiety during her pageant years, the ways in which therapy and journaling have proven to be a saving grace, and the previously private moments - both at home and on television - that have shaped the star’s outlook.

Honest and emotionally urgent, God Bless This Mess is a reminder that true growth doesn’t come without strife - and it’s through those dark, messy moments that self-acceptance and love can bloom.

Absolutely loved this memoir as someone listening that is 26. I'm not Christian but the religion didn't bother me. Highly recommend if you're a girl in your 20s feeling lost.

An Inspiring & Emotional Bio

Reading this felt like having a conversation with Hannah, only you can’t reach out to offer a supportive hug. It is heart breaking to learn about all of those times when I enjoyed watching on the Batchelor, Bachelorette, or DWTS that she wasn’t always the happy woman that she seemed to be. The pressure she put on herself to be everything to us, the public , and her friends & family, was more than most people could bear. I recommend this book to everyone. Hannah provides an honest account of how societal & cultural pressures have shaped her life and choices.

Yes there is also plenty of tea to enjoy too!!

Thank you Hannah!!!!
Stay strong

Raw, open and vulnerable

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This was more than a salacious retelling of Hannah’s time on the Bachelor/Bachelorette. She really dug deep to heal old wounds from her childhood and young adulthood. I appreciate her for sharing her experience with all with us. I honestly thought she was already open from her time on the Bachelor franchise and from what we see on social media but you get so much more, which was such a nice surprise! Great narration as well! Congrats Ms. Hannah B!!

LOVE this memoir!

Great book about Hannah’s life and what she’s been through! Makes me love her even more! She’s vulnerable and brave to share her stories. She didn’t talk about her current boyfriend Adam at all, which I would’ve loved to hear about! Overall, great book!

So relatable

Honestly this was soooo much better than I expected. I loved Hannah as the Bachelorette and have followed along with her since, and this book taught me so much about her. This was truly vulnerable, held nothing back, and was so relatable. The bachelor tea was there, but this was more about recognizing your patterns and mistakes in life and relationships, and just trying to figure out growing up and growing into your own. All her tidbits about the pressures of growing up and going to college in the south was spot on. She’s definitely someone to learn from and look up to how she has evolved and transformed into who she truly wants to be.
