Very entertaining but...
The author shows no respect for scale, be it distances or time. he frequently has characters travel between continents over the course of several weeks, but simply skips over this fact and makes the difference between start and the end of the journey one paragraph without any recognition of what took place during that time. At other times, her takes 10 minutes to explain a flight of a few miles across the landscape into a hidden valley. Within that same chapter several characters have to make multiple trips back and forth between the two destinations, loading and unloading dozens of passengers and yet from the standpoint of a single character who was watching this happen, it literally took less than 30 seconds for that character's events to take place concurrently. these extreme lapses of judgment frequently destroy the suspension of disbelief. I wish the author would respect those time and distance scales more faithfully.
All of that being said, the saga, character and story development is extremely entertaining and well done. Obviously, it's well worth the one credit it takes to obtain this enormous volume of fantasy.
