Publisher's Summary

In Solitude, Oregon, everyone has secrets… and some will kill to keep them.

When she believes a teen is falsely accused of drug dealing, social worker Carly Taylor takes on a high-risk case and her estranged husband - the detective in charge of the investigation - to prove the boy innocent. A deadly new designer drug has taken hold of her small rural hometown of Solitude, Oregon, and Carly is determined to find the real dealer and clear the teen’s name. But the deeper she digs into the case, the more danger she unearths, until someone decides it’s time for Carly to move on… permanently.

Investigator Seth Harding knows he can’t stop his wife when she has a child to protect. But he risks any chance of reconciliation with Carly if he can’t learn to accept her dangerous job. When a drug dealer decides Carly is getting too close, will Seth lose her altogether?

A pulse-pounding Rogue River novella, Gone to Her Grave is the second exciting addition to the new romantic suspense series from Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot.

Ridiculously short

Ridiculously short, normally I enjoy Melinda Leigh’s books, but this was ridiculously short, wish I never purchased it!

Life is not quiet in Solitude

Another quick story in Solitude. This is Carly Taylor’s story. She’s a social worker and her estranged husband is a county deputy sheriff. Can they resolve their marital problems before Carly’s job puts her in danger?

Rogue River Noveella series

The novella series has alternate stories written by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliott. Although classified as romance-suspense, they are excellent suspense stories with little or no romance. Kate Rudd narrates superbly.

Quick, But Good

While novellas aren't usually my choice for audiobooks, I find that I love the serial novellas quite a bit. My issue with the shorter books has always been a lack of character building, but since serial novellas keep a core of the same characters, their development is much better. I'm loving this series by two of my favorite authors for romantic suspense and thrillers.

This installment focused more on Carly, the younger daughter of the recently buried former sheriff. It might just be because of the subplot that ran through the book, that of her estrangement to her husband Seth, but she seems a more difficult character to engage with. It's always a tough topic, and Carly seems cold and shrill in comparison to Seth, who really wants to work things out.

All that being said, it was still a great story, as the law enforcement officers of the area continue to search for the source of a potent and deadly new drug. I'm still all in, and feel confident that I'll find much to like about Carly in the near future. If you're new to this series, it's certainly possible to pick this audiobook up and enjoy it. But your best enjoyment will be gained from starting with the first book in the series for better depth and understanding.

Gone to Her Grave Book 2

I love the story and that it covers the life and work of this couples. Again thing is that their love for each did save them from harm and the guidance of their mother.

Amazing

Amazing story and performance, the story is intriguing and interesting. The characters are smart and caring, there's a mix of romance, action and suspense that will keep you on the edge, typical Leigh style. I definitely recommend. Live the narrator performance.

Not a stand-alone. Less mystery & suspense compared to previous book.

I listened to audiobook narrator, Kate Rudd, whose brilliant voice-acting brought this novella to life in my imagination. I rated her voice-acting 5 stars, whilst the novella was worthy of 2 to 2.5 stars.

This is a continuation of the previous story set in the small town of Solitude, about a dangerous new street drug, but with new characters added to the previous cast. Social worker Carly Taylor is separated from her husband, Seth Harding, who is a Rogue County detective. The duo are supposedly still in love w each other, and there’s much ado about their relationship, but they don’t seem very compatible—no matter what each professes during internal monologues. Like other Melinda Leigh novellas, this one’s light on mystery but laden with angsty romance.

In the next book, I hope Kendra Elliot pulls together the numerous floating subplot threads, and perhaps she’ll focus more attention on the murders.
