Publisher's Summary

Humanity once ruled space, building an empire that stretched across hundreds of stars.

Now, Earth is a cold cinder in the void, its colonies and ships annihilated in an instant. The surviving races have huddled in the dying light of those few stations for five thousand years. They've avoided total destruction to eke out their existence in the shadow of the long-dead humans who built their homes.

When a piece of that lost legacy resurfaces, the few who still remember humanity have one last opportunity to find the truth and avenge the fallen.

Great potential, squandered characters

I was so interested. reading the byline of the book, and hearing the descriptions of the world in the first few minutes and then.....the main characters start talking to each other :(
They are written like saturday morning cartoons or '80s low budget action movie characters.
bursting with emotion and bravado with no counterpoint to their attitudes, or back story to explain how flippant they were to everyone around them.

It's so strange having such a well-painted world and then characters that go off the handle for no reason, or sound cheesy beyond belief as if I'm watching a corny action movie. honestly, very frustrating to me when it has such promise, the concept and good descriptive writing of the situation.

But I digress. maybe I'm just not a fan of overacting characters in audiobooks, if you the readers imagination enjoys that kind of story, this might be for you.
