Publisher's Summary

“A twisty, fast-paced” (The Sunday Times, London) debut thriller, as electrifying as the number-one New York Times best seller The Girl on the Train, about impending motherhood, unreliable friendship, and the high price of keeping secrets.

In this “gloriously tangled game of cat and mouse that kept the twists coming until the very last moment” (Ruth Ware, number-one New York Times best-selling author), Helen’s idyllic life - handsome architect husband, gorgeous Victorian house, and cherished baby on the way - begins to change the day she attends her first prenatal class.

There, she meets Rachel, an unpredictable single mother-to-be who doesn’t seem very maternal: She smokes, drinks, and professes little interest in parenthood. Still, Helen is drawn to her. Maybe Rachel just needs a friend. And to be honest, Helen’s a bit lonely herself. At least Rachel is fun to be with. She makes Helen laugh, invites her confidences, and distracts her from her fears.

But her increasingly erratic behavior is unsettling. And Helen’s not the only one who’s noticed. Her friends and family begin to suspect that her strange new friend may be linked to their shared history in unexpected ways. When Rachel threatens to expose a past crime that could destroy all of their lives, it becomes clear that there are more than a few secrets laying beneath the broad-leaved trees and warm lamplight of Greenwich Park.

Surprising through and through

This was a face paced thriller, one without many lulls or dips in excitement. Everything is answered eventually and yet it still manages to leave you with a twist. Excellent read

Mediocre

The story was enjoyable until the ending which seemed just thrown together. I was disappointed by that.

I really liked the ending, but...

What I didn't like was that one of the main characters always seemed to be on the border of spineless and clueless, and must have mentioned that she was tired at least 50 times. That always makes me wonder if the author is exhausted .
Also, I don't enjoy books or even too many sections of a book where someone is in some sort or confused haze. Again, how tired is this author??
It's a decent story though, and it definitely comes to life at the end, but overall, I didn't love it.

Snooze

One voice for all characters with no voice inflection. It was boring to listen to which made the predictability worse.

One of those books that drags way too long....

and then ties it all together in an overly long, overly detailed description. You know those type....too many names, just sorta amateur.

Absolutely Fantastic

The is, quite possibly the best book I’ve read in years.
For a debut novel, I cannot fathom what phenomenal books are waiting in this author’s future.
This story is at once, creepy, multifaceted, layered, beautiful and extraordinarily well told.
At every turn, there is this gorgeous, descriptive element that fills every corner of this book.
Each and every character is fascinating, compelling, and we want to know them.
We want to know their motivations, we want to know what comes next.
I could NOT put this book down.
And I have to say, I have over 600 titles and have been quite attached to this particular genre for years.
I’ve read many, many books in this category.
From Ruth Ware, to Lisa Jewell, to Anne Cleeves, Anthony Horowitz, and so on.
Never have I been so immediately transfixed, so immediately invested in a story and the people in it.
The place is fascinating, the characters are so well developed that you feel like you know them.
And just when you think you know where it’s going, you see what’s what and it’s just brilliant.
I was SO sad for this book to end.
I would literally preorder 10 titles from Katherine Faulkner right now.
She is a master of the the craft.
No one writes like her.
She is rare and original. All aspects are cleverly wrapped up and leave the reader feeling utterly fulfilled, hungry for more.
The narration is also exceptional.
Laura Kirman captures so many different characters and she does so with great skill.
Shifting from the timid Helen, to the calculating Serena, to the almost manic and totally unpredictable Rachel.
Beautifully done, all the way around.
Thank you for a fantastic time, and a truly exceptional book, matched by an equally exceptional performance.
I cannot wait to see what Katherine Faulkner gives us next.
Just YES.

Not What I Had Hoped

I was so excited for this book, the cover is great and its my favorite genre - a British mystery/thriller. Unfortunately I was disappointed. While the narration was very good, I found the main character's whinging to be unbearable after awhile. She also seems unbelievably naive over situation after situation. Nobody, especially a woman, could have that little intuition. About half way through I knew what was going on but had to keep listening to get the details, which didn't end up being very satisfying anyway. Overall, its not bad writing but the characters were a bit hallow and mostly unlikable.

Absolutely loved

The characters were great, the narration brought them to life. Such a great story that was fast paced and kept my interest the whole way through. takes off in chapter 3.

Can a woman really be this clueless?

Although this kept my interest, I felt that the main character was extremely obtuse, If not downright stupid. When someone tells you something like, ‘wait, there’s something you need to know’, or you continue to get phone calls from a bank regarding your finances when they have all of your personal information and you just ignore them over and over without asking questions, maybe you ARE just stupid. I have a problem with characters written in this way. The main character Helen, does so many stupid things, it made the book quite tedious at times.

Even though this storyline starts out slow, it gradually lures you in. Intriguing keeps you guessing! The ending, you never see it coming.

Slow at first but then....

I thoroughly enjoyed Greenwich Park. It was terribly slow at first and on several occasions I thought about DNF'ing it but I'm so glad I continued.

This was a mystery and thriller mix and had several twists that I did not see coming. The narrator was marvelous which made the book even better. Greenwich Park was very good and I highly recommend it to anyone over the age of 17.
