Publisher's Summary

Come for an emotional ride in this stand-alone romance by New York Times best-selling author J. Sterling. With Sterling’s laugh-out-loud banter and a trio of brothers you’ll fall for, this realistic story is a must-listen.

I’ve seen Frank Fisher before, but he’s never seen me. He definitely saw me tonight. And I know I wasn’t the only one who felt the world shift the moment our eyes connected from across the bar.

But Frank isn’t like his brothers. He’s quiet, elusive, and keeps to himself. It makes him mysterious, but that’s not why I’m drawn to him. It’s something else. Something I’ve never experienced before, as cliche as that may sound.

I want to be around him. Get to know him better. Explore what’s growing between us, but Frank keeps holding back and I have no idea why. Good thing I’m a persistent woman who doesn’t scare off easily.

Right?

I guess we’ll see.

The Fisher Brothers is a series of stand-alone novels that can be sipped one at a time, or binged in order. Each book is named after one of the drinks at their popular bar!

Couldn't relate to male lead

Just couldn't relate to the male lead at all. Skipped a bunch of chapters at the end since I didn't care for the sex scenses either.

Hostely just finished it to leave a review. Because I so strongly disliked the male lead.

Misogyny is strong with this one

Frank is an asshole with no guts. He makes me so angry I stopped halfway through. Don't romanticize these types of stories.

Wish I Could Say Better Things

I really wanted to say that I loved this book. But I didn’t. :( Narration was great, and the story it’s self has great potential, but, for me it was lacking. That being said. I’ve already downloaded the next book in the series. Im committed to the series now.

Frank such a sweetheart.

This second book of the Fisher Brothers was good.

You knew in the first book, Frank had a relationship with a woman, but who was she?

She was a girl from his past, and should have probably stayed there. I’ve been there done that.
But Frank is an Enigma….A respectful gentleman. A unicorn.

He was drawn between:
The right thing or the wrong to do,
To be happy or just live unhappily to keep another happy.

A beautiful Colombian woman turned his life upside down in a good way.

Tim Paige was a good narrator.
Reagan West was just ok. Not terrible, she started to grow on me.

Omg - awful female narrator

Ugh, slow burn and the female narrator is awful. She’s supposed to have a Colombian accent but she is not. And when she “has an accent, it’s awful, more Irish/Scottish.” Horrible, like rolled my eyes and wanted to FF through female narrator.

the dude is a cheater?!

Im only on chapter 7 but I don't see how anyone can love this story. the guy is a cheater. dating one woman for 10 years and talking to another. it doesn't matter how "bad" his long term relationship is. he made a commitment to her. be honorable and stay faithful or LEAVE before you think about talking to someone else....

Insta love

But at what cost? Ryan gives up the girl who’s always been there for him for the girl who catches his eye at his bar. Doesn’t sound so great and it was a little hard to stomach but it works out in the end. Girls, if you’ve stayed around for 10 years wanting marriage and he doesn’t, move on and don’t be a Shelby. Hated that part of the story At times I didn’t feel like Ryan deserved his Claudia. He didn’t have to be so weak, but maybe he found the girl just right for him in Claudia. Supporting cast helps save the story.

Meh

I find it really hard to enjoy a love story that starts with cheating and betrayal. I felt no romance in this book, just extreme disgust in the lack of backbone in both parties. The main character was cheating from the jump no matter how his monolog twisted things to make him feel better about himself and his actions. He never felt the need to be respectful and to own up to his actions, so Iost all respect for him. As for his female counterpart she was just as bad, not once did her monolog take into consideration the third party or how the actions of Frank could have hurt anyone but herself. She makes a big tado about not respecting cheaters and how the actions of cheaters took her father away but she is quick to jump right back to Frank. She makes the statement that she is too attracted to him, I'm at a loss to know what kind of person has no more will power than that to fall head over heels after a slice of pizza, a few drinks and a kiss on the cheek. It doesn't say much about her character or her self worth that so little was needed to make her change her very opinion on an ideal that supposedly change her entire life. So without respect for even one of the characters in this book it was tremendously hard to listen to them blather on about love and respect when they clearly had no respect for the concept of love and started their relationship by shitting on the very ideal of love and relationships.

As for the narration it was ok.

Sexist

This book was full of so many sexist remarks that I can’t believe it’s written by a female author. Pass.

Don’t bother

Hands down one of the worst books I’ve ever suffered through. Don’t bother. So cheesy, sexist and awful.

Guy hater

I’m going to be honest, this story was hard for me on a very personal level. I get why Frank did what he did but I don’t agree with it at all. I know, I know this is fiction but I get so invested and lost in these characters. That being said the angst, witty banter and the family dynamic was fantastic. I did enjoy this book when I got past the “cheating” aspect.
