Publisher's Summary
H. P. Lovecraft is arguably the most important horror writer of the 20th century. Culled from his 1927 essay "Supernatural Horror in Literature”, Lovecraft acknowledges those authors and stories that he feels are the very finest the horror field has to offer, including Washington Irving, Edgar Allan Poe, Henry James, Rudyard Kipling, Bram Stoker, Robert Louis Stevenson, Guy de Maupassant, Ambrose Bierce, and Arthur Conan Doyle. This chilling collection includes 20 works, each prefaced by Lovecraft's own opinions and insights in each author’s work, as well as Henry James’ wonderfully atmospheric short novel, The Turn of the Screw. For every fan of modern horror, here is an opportunity to rediscover the origins of the genre with some of most terrifying stories ever imagined.

Not all the stories are complete
Any additional comments?
I'm not sure if it was the editing of the original book or the audio recording, but, not every story is complete. For example, "The Adventure of the German Student" by Washington Irving cuts off before the twist ending reveal . . . I remembered the ending so, I re-played the audio over to see if I missed anything, then I checked online to make sure I remembered the ending correctly . . . and I did and the ending was not included in the audio (at least at the time I downloaded this book). This was rather disappointing. I will now have to check all of the stories now to make sure I don't miss anything because it was left out of the book editing or recording.

This was wonderful! I've listened to it twice!
The narrations were engaging and the stories are fantastic! I wish there was more of it so I could listen to it longer. But I'm happy I have this on my phone so I can listen to it wherever I want. I would highly recommend this!

wonderful but frustrating
How the chapters are set up makes going back and listening to your favorite stories again difficult since some stories are split between chapters etc. If this was reworked so it was a story or intro per chapter it would be completely wonderful.

Amazing read
I love these cause it's not what you would expect, all Hollywood-esque type of stories, they're more like grandmother stories. I liked it!!

I was hoping for more scarier stories
I struggled to finish it. There was way to many other things in this book besides the stories. Really disappointed.
