Story
The 26th century. Once considered clandestine, the Spartan-II program has now gone public. Tales of armored supersoldiers fending off thousands of Covenant attacks have become the stuff of legend. While the Master Chief defends a besieged Earth and the myriad factions of the Covenant continue their crusade to eliminate humanity, an ultra-secret cell of the Office of Naval Intelligence known as “Section Three” devises a plan to buy the UNSC vital time. It will need hundreds of willing soldiers, though - and one more Spartan - to get the job done.

I enjoyed having two narrators for this story
I have read the books for this series and the audiobook hold up quite well. I like how they had two narrators, a male and a female. I think it would be a good idea to have the all male voices by one and all female voices by another. if you listen you may understand what I mean. Overall this was a good book.

Much better that expected.
I was originally turned away by some of the reviews of this book, but I bit the bullet and decided to listen. I'm glad I did, as it is a great experience into the old expanded universe of Halo. With a plethora of new and recognizable characters both human and especially Covenant, this made for quite a good listen. A Covenant Hurragok (Engineer) as one of the many main characters makes for a unique perspective compared to others such as a Sangheli or human. The story and plot itself wasn't perfect. as it jumped around a bit akd struggled a bit to stay on track, but I found myself enjoying the background information of the characters (again, especially the Covenant) being told much more interesting than the actual plot itself. The writing style wasn't anything too special, and there was a bit of "male power fantasy" vibe in some parts, particularly in the (mild spoiler) somewhat forced and out of place sex scene right at the end of the book. Thankfully it did not detract from the rest of the book too much. All in all, pretty good. I would recommend to anyone who's a fan of Halo and already knows about some of it's lore.

Hard to follow
While this story was interesting at some points, I just found it really hard to follow. The back story of Avery was nice to know, but I feel like the only bits that I will retain out of it is the ending. This story was actually much better at telling the story of the Covenant.
